Loved my NB Beacon V3s but after they were discontinued, I struggled to find a replacement. I bought the Hoka Clifton 9...BIG MISTAKE. Despite all the rave reviews, I experienced knee pain after a few short weeks of usage. So I was back to square one.Read online that these Tempo V2s might be a good replacement for the Beacons and I couldn't be happier. The cushioning is slightly softer than the Beacons (a good thing) and because they're last year's model the price is exceedingly affordable. Extremely lightweight too. Thinking about picking up another pair!
Look good and are comfortable
Bought these because I wanted a shoe with a relatively low heal-toe drop and relatively low stack height. I am getting back into running after some years and really liked my vazee pace new balances from seven years ago. Those had a 24mm heel 18mm toe stack height, but you can't really find anything like that anymore it seems. A lot of the shoes I found recommended online had heel heights near 40mm, which seems very high to me. These have 28mm heel, 22mm toe stack height and seemed about as good as I could do in the current 2024 maximalist fad marketplace. Maybe a half centimeter, 16% more cushioning, wouldn't be that big a deal. Well, after one run I can report that these are very different from the circa 2017 vazee pace. They are more cushioned, sure, but also tighter fitting and for some unknown reason really seem to encourage heel striking. I couldn't do my normal center-front landing that worked with the vazee pace pair. Not sure what's behind that since I assumed the heal to toe drop would determine where it was comfortable to land. So, no I wouldn't buy these again. I bought some saucony kinvara 13s as well and those, while also higher than the vazee pace did not have the effect of changing my stride. Until I find something better, I guess I am sticking with the kinvaras (though I understand the kinvara 14s are even higher, unfortunately).
Love these shoes
I loved the New Balance Zante Pursuits, it was a nice, light shoe with low stack and a firm, ground-feel. I was saddened when NB discontinued the model. Fast forward a bit and the NB Tempo 2's come out and I heard great things about this shoe as a ZP replacement so I had to try it.The upper is comfortable and hugs your feet like a glove. I could probably have gotten true to size but with buying online I went a half-size up. The ride is firm and though it isn't the Zante it is a worthy replacement.
These were comfortable as far as the insoles/outsoles. but they run small and narrow even though I tried regulars. I don't like laces. the material is shiny and makes them look cheap (a lot of top brands are using this material now). these should be in the $40 range or below in my opinion.
super ight and very good for workout
My husband loves these shoes and the color. They’re comfortable and beautiful. He is recovering from a brain and spinal cord injury so he is working out in them 4+ hours a day and they have held up great.
