I really love this shoe very comfortable fits perfect excellent grip. It is my second pair.
I loved how perfectly and quickly that they fit. I love the super easy and fast lacing and as a system it does not feel too tight here but too loose there. There is a finger tab to pull the tongue up with. The soles grip everything I could find and the steep downhills became pure joy. They do not do wet, not even dewy grass. They are not made for mud unless thats all you want them for. The mesh filters dust, dirt, sand so that the shoes fill with only the fines that do get in. Too bad they were not designed for desert dry debris or deep sand. The ankle cuff doesn't keep out the debris that the shoe treads pull up from whatever you are running on with each step. Dry grass pierces the shoe too and the seeds and debris finds all the many internal flaps and elastic edges to hide inside. Sand get into the insoles and will never all clean out.I hope there is a new model in our future with lighter gore tex protection over the top of tongue so debris doesn’t fall into shoe and a heel pull tab
I received these in a package that looked like it had been taped together. When I opened the box, the shoes were CLEARLY a return with the tag cut off and scuff marks on the sides and bottom. Also, the shoe made a clicking sound with every step. I contacted Amazon to tell them I was send used shoes & that I shouldn't have to pay full price. Amazon told me to keep the shoes & returned my money. Now, maybe because they were free I decided to abuse them. And abuse I did. I was shocked by the performance, especially after reading some reviews.First, this thing has GRIP. Wow. I've been using Nike Pegasus trail runners for a few years and they're great but the grip is ridiculous, even dangerous. They slip on wet stone. But the Ride 4 has so much grip that I tried to clean them off on the Welcome mat at my home and the shoes got stuck and wouldn't budge. That's how much grip there is.Second, some complain about the lace scheme breaking. I don't even know why anyone needs to tighten these shoes. If you get the right size, once your foot is inside, you shouldn't ever have to tighten them. They're not coming off your feet unless you're a size 10 who HAS TO buy a 12 for some reason. I've put these on and taken them off multiple times without ever needing to tighten up.Third, though this shoe doesn't mention water resistance, it's relatively good at that too. I've run through puddles without my feet getting wet.Fourth, and maybe the most important is the toe space. I've had shoes that were so tight that it caused ridiculous rubbing, causing burns and cuts on my toes. Not these. So much space. Perfect amount. I can practically split my toes apart while wearing this shoe. This may be the best trail runners I've ever owned.
Nice stable shoes for me
I have a pair from 10 years ago that are still useable. I just purchased another pair and am delighted with the fit and ease of putting on the shoes. There size are smaller. I had to move up a half size. Salomon shoes will get more purchases from me.
I bought these after my Sense Ride 3's wore out. I'm blister-prone and they were a godsend. The fit and the closure system worked beautifully for me. That continues to be mostly true. The Sense Ride 4's have kept me blister free. However, the redesigned collar doesn't feel as secure. I primarily use these as hiking shoes, with a bit of trail running here and there, and they dominate the other options in my closet (including Keen boots) for comfort and traction. My biggest negatives: As others have said, the pouch for stowing the drawstring is poorly designed. It's tight and difficult to stuff the drawstring in and pull it back out. Plus the tab on one of my shoes tore off on my 2nd time putting these on. Without the tab, it's even worse.
