I ordered these for hiking, they were like-new with tags. Nice! I usually wear 8.5W, these 9s fit perfectly. It was sheer coincidence I ordered a Gore-Tex v8 but these happen to be great rain shoes. My feet stay dry during downpours. No way they're as durable as my boots but the tradeoff is they're way more comfortable. Haven't worn my boots in a while, knock on wood. The treads are not overly aggressive so you can wear them in the city with some caveats. Wet pavement is totally fine. Dry pavement is doable but not great, you can really hear your foot impacting the concrete.
These things are beastly. They can handle the trail running and more. I’ve put close to 120miles on these and the tread is still solid. So the tread life is great. Also the sides aren’t coming unglued like most trail shoes after a few miles. The gortex (sp.) is a bit hot in the summer but great for mud and water. Nothing penetrates the shoe.Definitely worth the money.
Perfect fit as always, all Salomon shoes that I bought are True to size. And as you spect form Salomon, excellent shoes, boots my favorite brand now in days.
I’ve been wearing Merrels at work and for hiking for several years now and have generally been satisfied with them. My girlfriend swears by Salomon and decided to try a pair of these recently. So far I really like them. Initially stiff but only took a few hours to notice them breaking in. I ordered my usual size and there was no issue there for me. They’re comfortable and I’ve grown to like their lacing system. It really does seem to hug the foot well. I haven’t worn them in very wet conditions yet, but they have been wet and the Goretex kept my feet dry. I also find the grip material on the soles to be much better than the Merrels. My only quibble is the slight bit of heel slip when moving at a faster pace. My heel never actually pops out of the shoe but it can be distracting. Overall very happy with them.
Very comfortable, totally waterproof and a very competitive price
More color options are available, however due to COVID you can have Gray black and pumpkin and be happy with it. Other than that the Shoes are great. Very short break in time. Have been putting 12 miles a day on concreate without foot fatigue. On the trails the grip and stability are amazing. The lugs on the sole give excellent grip up or downhill. While the midsole body and sole construction is solid, and on uneven terrain it prevents your foot from torsional twisting while remaining squarely balanced.
Bought for my husband who has been wearing Salomon shoes for hiking for years and had been wearing previous version of XA Pro. The previous pair has been well used for a couple years, until the sole is coming off. We love their product - very good grip, comfortable and water proof. The only thing is the fact that the sole starts to come off after 2 years; would be better if it last longer.
For me and my US size 11 EE feet, these shoes in the same alleged size are too narrow: too tight at the ball of the foot, with even more width restriction forward into the toe box.One photo shows the Salomon insoles next to insoles from Fila shoes of US size 11 D -- not wide. They are both about the same width at the ball: 3.75 inches wide. My EE feet are about 4.625 inches wide. Further, while the souls narrow forward of the ball, my feet and toes do not. Aside from these narrow souls, the width of these Salomon shoes is similarly too narrow.FWIW, the tag on the inside of the shoe shows size US 11, not 11 EE, but the box tag does show 11EE, and there is a label on the show stating "Wide Fit".
