I typically run 6 to 8 miles on a fairly hard dirt trail two or three times a week. These are my first shoes with the carbon fiber plate. I was looking to see if these would help improve my time with a 10k run.I normally insert some spenco inserts, but decided to run with the “stock” insole to get a truer feel of the shoes.1)The shoe fits nicely throughout and is lighter than any trail shoes I’ve tried before.2) I am a mid-foot striker. The absorption is good and a definite energy return. I wouldn’t recommend going hard first time out but I easily set a new personal best.3) I think the price is a bit much, but if they maintain some durability, they are everything hoped for in a speed-slipper.**UPDATE**Here is some proof in the pudding. See the pictures. About 600 miles have been in these shoes. I use different shoes for road/asphalt running. The materials are holding up very well and the lugs are only slightly worn. I will repeat that my trails are packed dirt with not a lot of jagged rocks. My times could be faster, but I keep my HR in zone 2. 😂
This is my 4th pair of Sauconys. They are very comfortable and really hug the trail. These trail hikers are much wider than my Saucony trail runners. So if your feet are more wide, you'll like these Trail hikers.
Just started using these shoes for trail runs about a month ago. Already seeing major failure of the “PWR TRAC” tread, especially on the right sole (see pics). I paid $200 for these, thinking they would be “next level” trail shoe. From get go, the trail shoes felt cheap and a bit sloppy on my feet, especially towards front - which makes for some interesting descents! I love the look of the shoe aesthetically, but the performance is poor (in my opinion). Saucony is still my favorite running shoe, but do yourself a favor and go with lower cost Perengrines instead. They’re a little heavier, but a much better build. I’m 5-10 and weigh 175lbs, so I don’t think I’m capable of the destruction seen here. This one’s a miss Saucony, sorry!!
Now you can run on anything. The carbon fiber plates not only protect your arches, they add spring to your step. I thought it was my imagination. However, I went on a group trail run with these sneakers and other runners commented on how I was literally skipping over bumps and divots.
Great feeling on Black Mountain trail in San Diego last week end
The arch support is not centered. So instead of supporting in ends up hurting. Also the sizing is a little small
Currently on my second standard Endorphine Edge shoes. Wanted something with a more aggressive tread for winter running. Ordered these and tried this Trail version for one treadmill run to test fit and comfort. Felt NOTHING like my regular Endorphin Edge shoes. Even cushion felt sub par. To be blunt, these feel big time cheap, too light and poor quality. My guess is designer was trying to reach / hit a weight target for these shoes to favorably compare to other trail running shoes, as so many runners think the lighter the better. Disappointed and returning them.
