Winter running can range from invigorating to miserable, depending on the temperature and the traction. Summer running shoes are constructed from materials that are too thin to keep your feet warm, and they lack the traction for running on snow with the occasional ice patch. This is where I think the Saucony Peregrine Ice+3 excels. I run on predominantly on plowed streets, shoveled sidewalks, or in fresh and packed snow. When the conditions are truly icy, I run in Ice Bugs (Swedish-made carbide-studded running shoes), but I only need them maybe 7-10 days each year. The rest of the winter running season I wear Peregrine Ice 3+ because I know they can handle anything I'm likely to encounter on my run. I have not used these shoes for winter trail running and I'm not certain they would have adequate grip for that purpose, but they are great for roads and sidewalks.
I have worn Peregrines for years. I have tried every top end running shoe on the market and these just are the most comfortable wearing for long periods of time. I’m on my feet allot (in my fifties); working, working out, jogging, hiking - I wear these most. I have 9 pairs now I rotate. Love them and hope Saucony doesn’t change the formula.
Always like this brand and this running shoes works SUPER GREAT!!!!! Amazing grip and comfortable AF!!!!!!!!! I'm on germany so cold weather here is crazy. Super pleased with these!!
I have bought the Saucony Peregrine Ice shoes for years as they were amazing lightweight trail runners. I used these for summer mountaineering and scrambling. However, the new version has serious flaws. First, they drastically changed the fit of the shoe. No idea why they would do this, but it fits far worse than prior versions. The whole reason I bought this shoe over and over is because it fit perfect. The new version does not, so I will be looking for a new shoe.Second, the new tread pattern is far worse. The old shoe had a non aggressive tread pattern that was far better for traction on rock and scrambling. For glacier travel the old tread pattern wasn't great, but I'd throw on a pair of spikes and be fine. The new tread pattern is bizarre and will not work as well for scrambling or wet rock or ice.I'm returning this shoe and trying to order the prior better versions.
Not a shoe for winter. Traction on hard snow and ice is pitiful even though they are advertised as good on Ice. Do not buy if you are looking for a winter traction shoe. A major disappointment and since this is my first time trying Saucony I am unlikely to try then again. My New Balance summer running shoes have much better traction on Ice.
