I now have 2 exact pairs of these and I love them. I use one for running and one for work. (I have 2 jobs and am on my feet a lot) I had a pair of the Zealot Iso 1 as my first "real" running shoes 2 years ago. They were comfortable but the mesh uppers wore out pretty quickly. (So did 2 pair of Asics after that.) These uppers are a different kind of mesh and seem to be much better. However, I only have about 130 miles on my running pair so far. I have not been running long enough to say these are the best ever, but I am very happy with them.
8/30/2020 UPDATE: Lost a star, as 1) more eyelets broke, and 2) the padding at the back of the ankle wore away, leaving me with a really nasty rub and blister. I drilled new eyelets and relaced (more for the challenge to see if it would work, and it did). With the worn away padding in the back, yes, I could have stopped sooner, that's on me, but I've also chosen not to where those shoes running or even walking anymore - it set me back more than a couple weeks of healing, and I don't want to go through that again! Searching for new shoes now :(, even though except for the missing foam cushion behind the Achilles tendon, they otherwise still look good and are comfortable. I just looked and saw that I bought them 12/18, so I haven't gotten two years from them...:(...I'm taking away another star.3/22/2020 UPDATE (from 1/10/19 review): The overall shoe itself is still looking great. The only complaint that I have to the shoe maker is that two of the eyelets near the top have torn. I have relaced around those and used the extra holes at the top. That's the only negative I've found with them so far-pull too hard, and the eyelets will eventually rip. Otherwise, the shoe still feels comfortably supported on all sides of the foot, no looseness felt.Original Review: To start, I found these googling "running shoes for heavy men". The cushioning is as expected (lots), the shoe looks good. But what gets me every time is that a company has finally figured out shoelaces! You pull on them, and each loop tightens evenly. No more "start at the bottom, work your way up" to tighten the shoe. No more tight at the top near the ankle, but loose near the toes. It has the right tightness/hug throughout the length of the foot. Really hugs well, no loose points with your foot sliding around, and conversely, no pinch points either (I have wide feet, no issue).
Like several reviewers, I find these shoes particularly tight across the forefoot, especially the metatarsal area. My workaround was to replace the (full-length) insole with a 3/4 length insole. So much more comfortable now! Ironically, while the shoe is tight at the front, it is loose on my heel. I'm using a heel lock lacing technique to keep them from riding up and down and dragging my (very thin) sock down into the shoe. I've never had a shoe require quite so much hacking, but I really like its looks and colors, so I'm committed to making it work for me.
Even though my previous shoes were no longer available, these were the perfect upgrade for to replace them.
Been running for over 24 years. These are my favorite shoes to date. I ordered another pair just to have when these wear out. Fit to my feet is excellent and they are one of the few shoes that I can wear without an insert (slightly high arch and not to wide in toe box) which saves quite a bit of $. In my experience certain shoe companies tend to fit certain feet shapes. These are similar to most Nike shoes. These shoes also have a 4mm drop which they is a great compromise between cushion and flats for these 64 year old legs. Highly recommend this shoe if the last is right for your type of foot.
Great fitting shoe - it’s designed to be relatively snug but is well cushioned and a good training shoe for mid-distance running. One of my favorite shoes!
If the shoe doesn’t fit - don’t sell it and buyer beware, don’t buy it. The shoe and the box it came in, must be at least 1” or one shoe size off. My toes curled, way too small. So, is the problem just this pair or does it apply to only some, or all related model shoes, from this Seller or Manufacturer? Who knows? Certainly Not the Seller, who didn’t bother to answer that simple question, but sent a feeble form letter, for the product’s return. Btw, a pair of ASICS, same ordered size, fit as expected, as labeled, no problem. Remember, once you inconvenience me, a poor rating will follow. Wanna try again, redeem?
