About Skateboarding Shoes

Shred with Confidence: The Ultimate Guide to Skateboarding Shoes

Skateboarding is a sport that demands both style and function. Skateboarding shoes are more than just footwear; they're an extension of your board, allowing you to shred with confidence and control. With a vast array of styles and features available, choosing the perfect pair of skateboarding shoes can feel overwhelming. Fear not, aspiring shredders! This ultimate guide will equip you with the knowledge to navigate the world of skateboarding shoes, ensuring you find the perfect pair to match your riding style and keep you comfortable conquering those tricks.

Built to Last: Durability is Key for Skateboarding Shoes

Skateboarding involves wear and tear on your shoes. Here's what to prioritize for long-lasting performance:

  • Sturdy Materials: Look for shoes made from high-quality materials like suede or canvas, known for their durability and resistance to abrasion.
  • Double Stitching: Reinforced stitching, especially around the toe box and seams, adds extra strength and extends the lifespan of your shoes.
  • Vulcanized Construction: This construction method bonds the sole directly to the upper, creating a flexible and board-feel sensitive shoe ideal for skateboarding.

Grip It and Rip It: Traction Matters in Skateboarding Shoes

Maintaining control on your board is crucial. Here's what to consider for optimal traction:

  • Sole Pattern: A herringbone tread pattern is a popular choice for skateboarding shoes, offering excellent grip on various surfaces.
  • Sticky Rubber: The quality of the rubber compound in the sole plays a significant role. Look for shoes with sticky rubber for maximum grip on your board.

Ankle Support: Finding the Balance Between Comfort and Protection

Ankle support is a personal preference in skateboarding shoes. Here's a breakdown of the options:

  • High-Top Shoes: These shoes offer maximum ankle support, ideal for beginners or those who prioritize stability during landings and tricks.
  • Low-Top Shoes: These shoes provide a more lightweight and comfortable feel, preferred by experienced skaters who value flexibility for board control.
  • Mid-Top Shoes: These offer a compromise between ankle support and flexibility, suitable for skaters who want a balance of both.

Comfort Counts: Shredding Shouldn't Hurt Your Feet

Comfort is essential for long skate sessions. Here's what to consider for a comfortable fit:

  • Proper Sizing: Ill-fitting shoes can lead to blisters and fatigue. Get professionally sized for skateboarding shoes, considering factors like width and arch support.
  • Breathable Materials: Your feet will get hot during a skate session. Choose shoes made from breathable materials like mesh panels to keep your feet cool and dry.
  • Break-in Period: Give your new skateboarding shoes some time to adjust to your feet. Wear them for short periods initially to break them in before hitting the skatepark.

Shred with Confidence: The Perfect Skateboarding Shoes Await

By prioritizing the features discussed in this guide, you can choose skateboarding shoes that perfectly match your riding style and skill level. Remember, the right shoes can significantly enhance your comfort, board control, and overall skateboarding experience. So, invest in a quality pair, shred with confidence, and land those tricks with style!

Just a little off

This pair of Globe shoes was a little bit loose compared to previous pairs. There are inconsistencies between the right and left shoe, but they are cosmetic and don't affect fit or functionality. This pair is made from a looser grain of leather than previous pairs which is disappointing. I am intrigued by the algae bloom rubber and undyed leather. The shoelace on one shoe is thin like piano wire and different on the other. I am a big fan of Globe shoes. I do skateboard and although I haven't skated these yet, I'm sure they will perform. 4 outta 5 stars with deduction for inconsistencies in fit and finish.

Better than expected

I didn't expect much since this type of shoe is pretty minimal & most of them pretty much look, fit & feel the same when they're this vulcanized style. But this shoe was extremely comfortable right out of the box because it's made out of suede so it feels broken in right up front. But also because of the removable insole that comes in it has much more cushioning than your typical vulcanized shoe that usually feels like you're walking directly on the ground. Plus the insole also has an arch which most shoes like this don't and are completely flat on the inside. It's just enough cushion that you know it's there but it's not so much that you'll have less board feel. It's a good thing too because this type of shoe usually has no cushioning so if you add your own insole in a shoe that sits this low it usually pushes your foot up too high where your heel comes out of the shoe or the front of your foot is mashed into the top of the shoe making them extremely uncomfortable. Good on Globe for adding in their own cushioned insole much like Straye does. The outsole almost feels like a cupsole with more support than one would usually expect from a vulcanized sole. The tongue also has straps that keep it centered. It also comes with cream colored laces to match the outsole which really draws your eyes to the shoe over the black laces. The extra rubber to strengthen the shoe in areas that will be ground down quickly also make the shoe stand out more and make it look better. Also a good thing unlike in the picture on Amazon, is the Globe logo is also on the back bottom of the shoe like most other brands but it's not shown in the pictures here. I wasn't sure if these would be counterfeits or not but they seem to be the real deal. I got them for $33 and some odd change and delivered in 2 days so even with the extra shipping fee I got them quickly for half what they're selling nearly everywhere else. A few marks on the outsole out of the box but they're going to get marked up anyway so no big deal. Can't wait to rock these. The cream color looks so good compared to your standard white outsole on most of these shoes & along with taking out the black laces and putting in the cream colored laces that come with them they're just super eye-catching while at the same time being minimal & not too loud.
