I love slippers like these Acorn Men's Recycled Callum Hoodback slippers, there exactly the kind of slippers I tend to like wearing. So I was excited to give these a try!Unfortunately I’m not very impressed by these at all. Sure there inexpensive, but they have no support at all. Basically your got slides around everywhere and you find yourself walking on the sides of the shoes instead of the soles. I have never had this issue before with any other shoe except another pair of Acorns I had previously. (They lasted a month before they were unusable anymore!!!) however I was hopeful that it was just those ones in particular since everyone else seems to love the slippers and raves about them…. Nope. These ones do the exact same thing unfortunately. It’s a bummer since the slipper is made with quality materials and seams to be made well. But because there is no support on the bottom or the sides your feet just slide around everywhere.
These slippers are amazing quality and are super comfortable on my feat. the sole is so soft and the design is cute. I love this brand and how everything they create is quality.
In short, this is a very nice cold-weather slipper. I've been wearing these indoors in cold weather with no socks, and it keeps my feet more than adequately warm. The bottom padding is quite comfortable and the grip is great on my hardwood floors due to the rubber outsole. The lining is decently soft, although I wouldn't call it plush. It's Berber fabric, which is a polyester-based material and will do a decent job wicking away moisture. This one uses recycled Berber, which is a nice feature if you care about it, and it basically still feels brand new to me.The fit is about as expected. I normally wear a size 10 shoe but opted for the large (10.5-11.5), and as expected it is a somewhat roomier fit, which is what I wanted. Note that these are slippers, not moccasins, so the heel will not be perfectly snug and will drop off a little while you walk. It looks like they have the same thing in a moccasin style if that's what you're looking for.The build looks and feels pretty durable, although I don't wear them outside and so only sparingly run them through the washing machine.I'd say the warmth of these are a pro and con. It's great for colder weather, but I wouldn't really recommend this for warmer seasons unless your feet are always on the colder side. When it's warmer out my feet do get a bit too warm, but I intended to use these during the colder seasons anyway. So the product is great. However, from a value perspective, a little less so. While they aren't expensive, they aren't cheap either (currently $66 for the black in my size). Even Acorn itself seems to have some other more economical options. One last thing - my pair are not made in the USA, if that matters to you. I did notice the "natural" color and other products are either made in the USA or Imported, so it appears their products are made both domestically and internationally for what it's worth.
Normally I like to wear slippers a little lose on my feet so they can slip on and slip off without having to use my hands to put the slippers on my feet. I believe the term slippers comes from the design of the footwear to allow slipping on or off and not a type of footwear that you can easily slip while walking. They (slippers) are a little more snug fitting than my other slippers so they do keep your feet a little warmer because less air flow around the feet. Comparing the slippers side-by-side they have more padding on the bottom and the top of the slipper comes up farther on the foot towards the ankle. There is less toes wiggle room up/down as the slipper is shorter in height and my toes are pressed together a little more as the tip is a little narrower. It does take a little while to get use to the heels of the slippers being lower and less grippy on the feet, but after wearing them for a while they are comfortable. They do cling to your feet better than other less form fitting designs, so if your feet are hanging from a chair or if you have a high bed and your feet are dangling from the sides the slippers feel secure attached like a pair of shoes. Long term durability I can't speak to the slippers as I've only had them for less than a week and usually a pair of slippers lasts me about 7 to 8 months before they start breaking down on the inside of the sole or the stitching on the top.
The embroidered acorn on the inside of the heel of the slipper is an irritant. It's all I feel in the middle of the otherwise soft and comfy lining. Hard(er) material right on the heel. Why would they put that there???Unfortunately I have to send these back. Very disappointed.
