NOTE: item received for free through the Vine programI've been on the lookout for some slip-on house shoes for a couple of months as the previous pair that I've been wearing for a while has completely fallen apart, but I was disappointed in the options that I saw on Amazon and elsewhere. I had never heard of Dearfoams before - my wife later told me that, apparently, it's a real brand available in brick-and-mortar stores - but they looked nice enough so I decided to order them. I was initially disappointed when pulling them out of the box - they were extremely lightweight, which I usually associate with "cheap" - but they're actually well-made and, more importantly, quite comfortable.THE GOOD:- Though lightweight, the shoes are solidly constructed. The rubber sole on the bottom looks thick but, despite this, they feel quite light. The styling is simplistic but is nice enough to wear on a quick run to the store without looking like a complete goober. My pair didn't have any manufacturing issues - loose threads, separating soles, etc. Unlike many slip-on house shoes, I like that these have an actual back - they feel a lot more secure and don't slide off even after wearing them for a while.- The sole has a bit of cushion, though I agree with other reviewers that either some thicker foam or a thicker sole would be nice. That said, they're still comfortable enough to wear for hours at a time.- I usually wear a size 12 for shoes and went with the "large" option, which is described as equivalent to size 11-12. They fit perfectly for me, so if you run closer to an 11, you might want to go with the medium instead.THE BAD:- The included packaging was pretty generic. I know this is a small point and most people don't care, but I mention it nonetheless. The shoes were attached to a hanger and thrown in a plastic bag rather than in a shoebox.- The price is a bit steep, considering these are house shoes. If they actually end up being quite durable and lasting a while then I suppose the high cost may be worth it, but considering the availability of many cheaper alternatives, $42 (the price at the time of this writing) is a bit steep.I'll definitely be using these as my go-to around the house shoes. They really are nicely made and are more appropriate for around-the-house use than many house/lounge shoes. The real issue, though, is the price: $42 is a tough sell. Even if they're very well-made, there are multiple options on Amazon for about $20, some for even less. I definitely wouldn't have paid for these at the price they're currently listed at. Now that I have the knowledge of trying them out, would I buy them? Despite the great quality and comfort, probably not - something about paying that much for a pair of house shoes seems unreasonable to me. If you can get past the price, though, you'll almost certainly be happy with these shoes - they're quite comfortable and much nicer than the typical house shoes you come across. Definitely recommend - except for the price!
Soft slip on loafers that can be used inside or out. Cushiony in the heel, and overall comfy, though not nearly as cushiony as some Dearfoam slippers. These closed back slippers fit like a slip on casual shoe. They have flexibility, yet they have a firm center arch area. When I try to fold the slippers, just the front of the foot bends. Can be lightly twisted side to side. They really feel structurally sound. I think this bodes well for not only multi environment use (if you want), but also long term use, all with good comfort.--Accurate sizing. I have size medium, which fits men's 9-10 (or women's 11-12). I wear size 9 (or 11) wide width, and these have some room leftover (hence fitting size 10 men's or 12 women's). So if you are size 9 (11), these may have a little slop to them. If you are size 10 (12), then these should fit perfect.--Plenty of width as the material has some stretch. I can comfortably wear these with bare feet, or with socked feet.--Since these have a compact fleece interior, there is really no down time on fit. The more fluffy interiors tend to feel too small/snug at first, then as the material mats down, will fit as it should. The material on this should allow it to fit as it should immediately.--Opening is wide. I was able to slid these on with no hassle. I have high arches, so it can be hard to get my foot to slip into a smaller opening. The opening on this is generous. From heal to mid arch is open. Also, the material has some flex. This is good, as I also get bouts of very swollen feet and ankles. These should accommodate me during those times.--Soft, fleecy upper.--Firm rubber sole. Light traction (not smooth, but no deep grooves).--Rubber goes up the sides by 1.5 inches-- so definitely capable of being used to step outside with.I think they are comfortable, and warm. I dont see them as a slipper for out and about errand running use but that is just me. But to take the garbage out, or wander around the back yard with the dogs? sure. The product description says they have temperature regulating material. I really dont know what to look/feel for in that. My bare feet feel warm while wearing these--and I want that in a slipper. If these were regular shoes, then no I would not want a heated feel. So I'd say these are still house slippers as they hold the heat of my foot. And I want that.Seems that these Ace loafers are aiming for a hybrid between a casual shoe and a house slipper. The design passes for this, but the outer material still very much looks like a house slipper. It wears and feels more like a shoe than a slipper, yet it is very warm like a slipper. Has more support than a slipper. But I would prefer more cushioning, at least to start. Other than that, I think these are a solid pair of loafer style slippers.
- Made in China- Machine wash cold, gentle, no bleach. Dry flat- All components made from recycled materialSole comes up plenty high, could be worn outside for a trip to the mailbox or let the dog outNot the most thick insole padding as I've seen but still respectable.Inside fur is plenty soft and cozyThese are rather thick but are still very lightweightHe says they're toasty and comfy and fit him (size 11) well. I think they look perfectly fine.Don't forget to use the Smile.Amazon.com address - It's an Amazon program where many everyday things you buy will generate a small donation from Amazon to the charity of your choice at no cost to you. With one big exception, there's a lot to like about Dearfoams Men's Ace Sport Lounge Closed Back Slippers. My husband likes the memory foam insoles; they're soft and comfortable. The fleece body is warm and soft, and he especially likes that he can wear them outdoors if he likes. The sales blurb says that they can be tossed into a washing machine; that may be true for some washers, but not for all. But they can be hand-washed if necessary. Now for his major complaint - it's the stupid stand-up tag that Dearfoams insists on sewing the bottom of the slipper. It's hard to remove and if even a little is left in the seam, it sticks.
