I bought a similar brown stride rite shoe twice before during the last two years, and they worked out great! They are perfect for the brown shoe needed for school uniform and transition nicely to PE class, where my son doesn't have to bring an extra pair of shoes to school. They are durable and the pair of shoes have lasted for an entire school year. Now, we are on our third pair and third year of using them for school. This new pair is working out perfectly. Looks sharp for school uniform (love how it is a solid brown including the sole), and has a great athletic form for playing PE. These shoes are great quality, highly durable, and also provide great support and comfort. I have already purchased 3 times, so it is obvious I would buy again. In fact, I am planning on it for the next school year. Shoes are pricey and more than I would prefer to pay, but considering that my son gets a full school year of wear out of them, and that it is difficult to find other brown athletic shoes out there, I am willing to pay the price.
These have been very tough durable shoes. I haven't needed to launder them at all, but are washable if that's important to you. The memory foam inside feels soft and comfortable. I've also noticed it's well ventilated as his feet are not too hot or sweaty after wearing these all day, which has prevented the shoe from stinking. The velcro closure is very strong. So strong I have to help my two year old taking them off by making the first rip so he can go the rest of the way by himself. The sole is very grippy. Though still slippery on ice, it performs well in wet conditions and slick indoor floors. The brown color and design has blended in great with all his fall and winter outfits. It goes well when we're dressing him up in a sweater or plaid shirt and jeans or on days where it's just sweatpants and a tee shirt.
The product itself is fine, but the size chart is off. My son had a size 29EU, which according to the product size chart is a 11.5 US. The shoes came and they were small on him, and on the shoes themselves it showed that the 11.5US was a 28.5EU.
My son has wide feet, and Stride Rite is one of only a few brands that sells children's shoes for wide footed kids. These Made to Play are true to size. They are durable and survive a lot of running around at preschool, in playgrounds, neighborhood walks, etc. They are also machine washable, which is nice when your kid has been playing in the mud or has an accident. They are also more affordable than a lot of Stride Rite shoes. Most retail around $50, which is expensive for this age, as kids grow out of their shoes (and clothes) rather fast.
They fit great and my 3 year old loves them. These are one of the shoes that actually fit wide when you buy wide. He loves these so much that he won't use his new shoes even though these are quite snug. So I just ordered the next size up. I deducted a star as the toe area showed major signs of wear after a week. Hes average in his wear on shoes. These are just made cheaper I think. It's not real leather and the pleather coloring rubbed off quick. The velcro has held up well though.
They seem a little stiff to me but my son says they're comfortable and he's been running around happily since he got them. I've always liked Stride Rite the best because they last the longest. I picked these plainer brown for when he's wearing khaki pants for dress casual but still needs to run around and was afraid he wouldn't care for them because they don't light up or have any of his favorite characters on them but he was very happy when they arrived. Now that his second pair - the light up Stride Rite Storm Trooper shoes have arrived I have a feeling I know which pair he'll be wearing the most, though!
I have a child who pretty much hates shoes. At the moment he has three brand new pairs and these are the only ones he will wear! They're super cute, just as pictured, and from the previous, I'm assuming very comfortable!! The Stride Rite Made 2 Play Artin Running Shoes are certainly a good buy and I will definitely be purchasing more!!
My toddler is a big boy and even nearing two years old still has the “pillow top” feet. We ordered the extra double wide shoe and they fit! So we’ll in fact that when he grew out of the 5’s last year we ordered the same pair in a 7. Easy to put on, he runs well in them and they hold up well. We have a second on the way so we hope to reuse them when the little one is ready too.
