Love these sneakers! I purchased these specifically because they have a nice solid sole, I wanted to put my toddler in something supportive as opposed to flimsy to give her more stability while learning to walk. These are cute, fit as expected and have held up wonderfully to my daughter constantly playing with the Velcro and running around in them all day at daycare.
Great shoe! Has a nice bottom. Doesnt seem super slippery! I went to stride rite and did exactly what they said to measure feet. And I ordered the size it said and they do fit!Update - the shoes themselves are great comfortable. But it has a little tear (posted picture) I've had the shoes about 15 days.
My son loves these. He said he’s never going to ruin them or take them off lol. (He takes them off every day but that’s what he told me after the first day or two.) He’s been wearing them every day for almost a month and they’re holding up great. They get lots of wear being on the feet of a 4 almost 5 year old boy. I expect them to be worn to threads by the end of this school year which would be completely reasonable. That’s why I don’t buy him expensive shoes... no shoes can survive more than one school year of that kind of wear lol. I also buy a half-to-one-size up so his toes have room.
These are definitely not typical Stride Rite quality. The shoes run narrow, but true for length. The material feels cheap and less durable, but time will tell. Minor quality control issue with the label on the Velcro tab being upside down, but it doesn't impact anything other than appearance.Update: Alternating with another pair of shoes, these managed to last us about 7 months (should have been less since they’re now significantly too small. Whoops!). They now look quite tattered, but despite the questionable durability at purchase, the toes of the shoes held up to general 4 year old’s use/abuse and even to being dragged when used as bike or scooter brakes. Washing them kept them looking pretty good. Had he not outgrown them, I’m sure they would have lasted at least another month or two.
Perfect option for shoes your child wants to pick out on their own! Perfect for playtime outside. It seems to support my sons arches well as his feet are developing, they fit well as he does not seem to find their width nor length uncomfortable. He loves the colors. Will buy stride rite again, especially since they offer the correct shoe width options for my Childs needs. They are also child friendly in the way that it seems to be a pair that a child will love even perhaps to pick out for themselves.
We bought this shoe because it specified it was for a wide foot. With previous shoes, the velcro strap meant to go across the top of the shoe (to secure the foot) would always come undone. We recently had our son's foot measured and discovered he needed a wide shoe. This has made the difference. The strap stays secure in its place. When our son tried the shoe on for the first time, he said it is the most comfortable shoe he has worn. It seems to be well made. He has worn them everyday to school (and weekend play) and they are holding up to his roughness (LOL). I plan to purchase a second pair.
Within a day the toe area showed considerable wear, they are sneakers for boys so not sure why the toe area is not more durable or some how reinforced. However my son likes them and he says they are comfortable. This was a late August Purchase and now is mid-October and the shoes look like they are a year old. They are worn out and in need of replacement. Downgraded them from 3 stars to 2.3rd Update - Downgraded from 3 starts to 1 - It was Delivered to us on August 28 and now is Oct 28 and the sole separated from the shoe. This shoe lasted exactly 2 months. Not the quality that I expected from Stride Rite, since we have purchases this brand many times before and never had this issue with its quality before. Quite frankly I feel like I should get a refund or a replacement pair.
We needed a shoe for my son to wear to school. He abuses shoes at school on the playground with the constant running, jumping, and pretty much normal 5 year old boy stuff. His feet are growing pretty quickly, so we knew we didn't want to get something that was too expensive. We ended up on stride rite, something my wife and I remembered wearing as kids. The shoe itself is nice enough, but the quality isn't quite what it used to be. The shoe fits well and looks nice, but within a couple weeks it's already starting to show signs of wearing out. The tip of the shoe is starting to peel back and the heel is starting to split as well. My son is 5, he's not doing intense workouts in these things, but I just expected it to last a little longer. With the price though, you can't complain too much. In the future, when his feet stop growing so quickly, we'll get a better quality brand. But for the time being, these work.
