I was leery about purchasing these shoes because of the elastic laces. My son has chubby feet which I realized when he was a baby and I could never get his feet into any of the shoes with those kind of laces, which is 90% of baby and toddler shoes. So we have stuck mostly to velcro shoes where you can get the opening wider and control the amount of pressure being put on the foot by adjusting the velcro. But even with those there are only a few styles that come in wide widths and I got tired of buying him the exact same shoe all the time so I decided to give these a try because the brand emphasizes proper fit and they offer wide sizes. They actually fit my 2.5 year old surprisingly well. I don’t have any problem putting them on or taking the off. He does not have the vocabulary yet to really tell me how they feel, but the footbed is really soft and he seems to be comfortable when he wears them. He walks fine while wearing and I don’t see any red marks on his feet when I take them off. They feel well made and they look a bit nicer than standard athletic shoes. The only thing thats not great is the price, but I honestly think that the quality is there to support the higher price tag. It just stinks because they grow out of them so fast at this age, but any shoe that doesn’t hurt his feet is a win for us. I also purchased these as an open box like new item, which helped offset the sticker shock a bit.
The fist time we bought Stride Rite shoes it was from a Children's Boutique in my local area. We loved them because they come in wide sizes too. They also have fun colors are durable and have styles that are sneaker sandal mix. Some styles are great for water activities, some for walking and hiking and others for running and playing outside. This pair is great because the front toe turns up and the blue rubber sole protects the shoes from scuffing which I noticed with his other pairs that don't have that feature. I would definitely recommend this shoe and the Stride Rite brand in general because they hold up well under the wear and tare of small children at play.
I ordered these for my 3 year old. They are so comfortable and he loves them. Very easy to get on and off.
Out of multiple brand and shoes we have discovered stride rite is the only brand that fits our 3 year old wide foot shape. They are always durable, last long, easy to clean and easy for him to take off and put on by himself.
Very comfortable for chunky little feet, love it
We got sucked into stride rites at a young age as our sons first pair of soon-to-be-walking shoes were SR from target. But then when son was a couple sizes older and actually walking, we KNEW we needed to keep getting this brand because of how comfortably it fits his chubby and wide feet. He LOVES to jump and hop, and so we needed shoes that allowed him to really balance well on the ground. Most tennis shoes from other athletic brands have really thick soles that are not flexible (and most brands are WAY too narrow for most chubby kids feet!), so it’s like having your toddler essentially wearing platform shoes that only rock from front to back. But if you notice SR, the sole is wider and has these balance and grip “nodes” that spread the body weight evenly throughout the sole of the foot. Much better for balance and for our little jumping-bean :) yes they are expensive. Get the right size, or 1/2 size bigger for them to grow a little into it, but you WILL NOT regret buying these. Our little wears these every day, AND they hold up to him playing in water AND dragging his toe to slow himself down on his scooter. These shoes are amazing as scooter brakes! HahaGood idea to spray them with tennis shoe protector before your little starts to wear them, just to keep them a little more protected from what is sure to be abuse.
These are awesome and so cute. We have a hard time finding wide shoes for my grandson.
The sole is not super flexible, but they work fine.
