Dr. Martens, also known as Doc Martens, Docs, or DMs, has stomped its way into history since 1901. Originally created by Dr. Klaus Maertens, a German soldier who designed a comfortable air-cushioned boot to aid his recovery from a broken foot, the footwear quickly gained popularity. In 1960, the brand we know today was born with the iconic 1460 boot, adopted by British working-class youth and later embraced by various subcultures for its durability and rebellious spirit.
Dr. Martens prioritizes both timeless design and rugged construction. Their shoes are instantly recognizable by their air-cushioned sole, yellow stitching, and utilitarian details. Made with high-quality leather, Dr. Martens boots and shoes are built to withstand years of wear and tear, making them a true investment piece.
I needed a black leather shoe with no color or visible logos for my uniform at work. My work requires me to travel a lot so I wanted a shoe that would also be my go-to daily wear for civilian clothing (and still look cute as heck). Look no further! This boot is perfect for what I needed. It looks incredibly professional with business casual/uniform and I’ve gotten lots of compliments from coworkers…but it also looks badass and so cute in my daily shorts and t shirt or goth attire! Best of both worlds!!!I am okay with how it feels with its standard insert but It doesn’t have much room to add your own or add any cushion. I got a size 8 womens and I am usually a true 8 but sometimes a 8-8.5 in boots. It’s a perfect size for normal socks and my foot slips in super easily. However it’s very very snug with thicker socks or when I tried my own insoles. Would recommend a size up if you do that.I normally wear insoles with shoes but as stated, it’s too tight to wear with these. However, I have not experienced any problems or noticeable pain with standing all day in these. I wear them almost daily and walk quite a bit.I have scuffed them up and spilt things on them but a quick wipe with a rag has them looking like new.I love Dr. Martens (own quite a few pairs) and expect these to last years. There is no stitching on the boot and the sole is a great size, not super large or bulky like their classic boots. There is a tag at the top of the boot with the Dr martens logo but it is hidden underneath any standard sized pant. I’m very happy with my purchase.
The best! All day comfort when you find the right size. I normally wear 8.5 but after reading a lot of reviews decided I should go a whole size down, but Docs only come in whole sizes so I went with a 7. It was way too narrow and my toes hit the top, but I thought they might stretch out so I wore them around the house for a week or so before deciding to try an 8 for comparison. The 8 was almost perfect and had room for an insole which I normally put in boots for comfort anyway. They didn't need much breaking in, the first few times I wore them my feet were tired after a couple hours but quickly they became comfortable enough to wear all day. They're not as shiny as in the pictures either which I was happy about. Great with jeans and they don't look or feel clunky or heavy like other Docs I've seen. Great as rain boots too.
Bought these boots as a recommendation from a Paris packing list - they are the perfect blend of comfort with style. Although only I'll see them, love the polka dotted interior, makes these "tough girl" boots feminine. Plan to wear them with dark jeans and black leggings with tunics. Could take my days in Paris from casual to dressy, but it's gotten warmer since I bought them, will be saving them for next fall/winter. Only drawback is the leather is very stiff and will take a while before they're entirely comfortable. They seemed they could be comfortable out of the box until wearing them a bit.
This is my first pair of Dr. Martens. They are beautiful. My only advice for buying them is know that every pair fits slightly differently. I tried them on in a Dr. Martens store and then bought on Amazon. The ones I received from Amazon were tighter around the ankle than the ones I had previously tried on. I ended up returning these and buying the ones from the store due to a better fit around the ankle. I love them. I found them very easy to break in by just using thick socks and wearing the boots around the house for a day or two. I highly recommend them. I’ve worn them walking miles around the city with no issues. I find them very comfortable.
I bought these boots 5 years ago and they are still my go to boot during fall and winter. I clean and polish them every so often (maybe 3 times a year?) and they are still going strong! Great for all kinds of looks, so versatile. As soon as this pair dies I will be buying another, maybe 5 years from now!
I went up a half size to account for my insoles. On their own, these boots have hardly any support and feel roomier than most boots. With thick socks the heel is too tight, but there's a lot of room around the ankle. I'm not sure if I like these yet, but the tread will be good for rain and snow
So I live these boots!!! I’ve been stopped by random people asking me where I got them and complimenting them. They are pretty comfortable, I have some plantar fasciitis issues, so I couldn’t wear them for A LOT of walking, but for every day errands or like a trip to a restaurant they are fine. Just won’t be wearing them when walking my puppy for 3.5 miles! But if you don’t have foot issues like me, you should be perfectly comfort In them!Another thing is they run big. I usually wear size 10 in shoes/boots. I bought a size 9 and they fit perfectly. I think I bought them that size because someone else had a review that suggested that I do that and I’ve happy that I listened to the review! So size down!
I typically wear an 8.5 (often larger in boots though), and I had hoped from the other reviews that sizing down would cover me. Unfortunately, the 8 was too snug (not in the kind of way that new leather boots should be), and the 9 was too large, even with thick socks. If you can find a size that works for you though, these boots felt sturdy but also like they would break in nicely with regular use.
