Reading the reviews on this boot got me a little concerned so I ordered a half size up and it turns out that was completely unnecessary. They definitely took a little more work to get on and off the first couple of times and they felt a little bit snug at first. Part of this is getting used to the elastic cord laces, I promise you that they will stretch and the extra fluffy pile inside will compress leaving you with plenty of space within a wearing or two. This means that my pair is just a little bit big on my feet after 3 or 4 months of wear, but I don't consider this to be a problem since I can now put in a gel insole and wear my extra thick and fluffy alpaca wool socks in them.I recently wore them on a winter survival skills overnight trip with a 3 mile hike in and out. I also wore a thin sock liner and a new pair of smartwool socks with no blisters or hot spots. By the end of the day of hiking and building snow shelters I could tell that my feet were wet but they were also still very warm and comfortable. I took them off to dry by the fire for a little while and they might have been a little bit damp when I put them back on, they were still warm and with my socks now dry they finished drying on my feet fairly quickly. I like the ridge on the back of the heel that helps you set and keep the straps on your snowshoes in the right place. I don't like that the elastic cord laces make it nearly impossible to cinch the tops enough to keep deep snow from getting into the tops of the boots and they are a little bit bulky which makes it a little harder to get your gaiters zipped up over them.Still they are a great and comfortable boot that is worth the minor inconveniences that I have experienced. I will probably apply a couple of coats of camp dry before wearing them out again.
I bought these boots and love them. I ordered an 8 wide, they came earlier than expected. They are warm and look great one. True to size unless you want to wear thick socks, than order a size up.
Very nice looking boot with good traction and insulation
I love these boots, I bought a half size up just in case. Super warm and comfortable. I own two pairs. I highly recommend these for the winter and snow.
I bought these for my daughter attending college in upstate NY where there is an abundance of ice and snow to slog through. The first pair were too small, although I ordered a half-size larger than she wears. Easy return and reorder in the next larger size which fit perfectly and have room for thick socks. No complaints of cold or wet feet any more! They are kinda cute on her as well! Only come up to half-calf, but that was enough for her. Gray matched her coat and doesn't show the salt or dirt like black or white. No problems with slipping as they have more than adequate tread. Very happy once we sorted out the correct size! Good quality, too!
I ordered one size up and they are still very snug with light socks. The whole boot fits tight so its hard just getting them on, once you do, it does feel good around the calf, but getting them off is another issue. These are not slip off/on type boots, I have to sit down to do both. They are light weight, I will give them that, but they are definitely not -40 boots like stated. Im in Alaska and I know, nothing light is ever for extreme colds but I wanted these just for walking in so I needed something lighter than my good boots that are actually warm at -50 and colder.
Perfect fit, color, and oh so warm.
I wanted warm boots that are easy to put on and that have good traction in the snow and ice. I walk my dogs in the winter, but it was hard without really good boots. These fit perfectly, my size is 7.5. I definitely recommend these boots for cold, snowy areas, they are comfortable, cute, warm and no laces to tie, easy to put on. I will say that there is not much traction when walking on icy pavement. If there is some ice and some pavement, that is ok, but not when it is all ice and nothing else. I imagine you would need shoes with ice picks for walking on ice.
