The other reviews that mention the tight toe box and intense lacing are not wrong. I almost didn't order these because of the reviews but decided to try for myself. When I received them, I tried them on and the reviews were 100% correct - you have to unlace virtually the whole boot and once on they were oddly tight. HOWEVER, as soon as I stood up and walked around they were immensely comfortable. I gambled and took these on a 10-day trip to Iceland with no breaking-in time... and they were perfect! The only time I ever had any discomfort was while sitting in the car between hikes. It's the strangest thing. Still, I would definitely recommend them despite the issues because they're so comfy, great quality, and good looking on top of all of that.
I don't get the low ratings on these boots - these are gorgeous and priced low for the quality in my opinion. The leather is gorgeous and soft and the laces, hardware and soles are hardy and good quality. Yes, the leather scuffs, but those scuffs buff out pretty easily, and this is what natural leather is supposed to do. It takes on character after being worn and used. I took the advice of other reviewers to size up. I normally wear 8 - 8.5 depending on the shoe and I wear 9s in Brooks running shoes for the extra room in the toe box. I got a size 9 in these and it's perfect with a normal wool sock. These boots are comfortable and offer a ton of ankle support and stability. I would love to hike in these but I think they're way too pretty for that! Very happy with this purchase.
The boots run a size small. On the Brannock device I measure a 10AA, and the size 10.5 barely fit in length. I’m exchanging them for a size 11. The try on indicated they are ultra cushioned boots, sturdy and comfortable. The real proof will be in the wear, though, of course. Update: The size 11 fit like a dream and I wore them to an all day music festival on the beach. Quite comfortable for walking, did not allow in sand. Comfortable for standing 12 hours, as much as any shoe can be.
Need these boots for a 10 day Euro vacation where the forecast is rainy and 30-50F daily! My first pair of SOREL boots and I wanted to see what the hype is about. I wish the leather was more supple/luxurious (shiny) looking but i suppose that it defeats the “TOUGH” look for these motorcycle style boots. Heavy but exceptionally comfy for walking. As others recommended, I sized up 1/2 size and it could easily accommodate my wool hiking socks. My feet are def on the wider side and I thought I’d end up returning these since they were sooooo tight across the widest part of my foot, regardless of how much I loosened the laces.. like there was a bar of some sort. I wore them for 5-10 mins inside the house for two times, and by the third time, they had stretched out. Nice padding inside so my feet were very comfy. I like them but as far as boots go, there are TWO MASSIVE Fails (really?): you have to practically unlace the whole thing like others said to slip your foot in, as the laces loop into the HOOK versus along Side it AND there is NO pull LOOP. There is a tiny tab of extra leather that is barely 1/2 long. Aside from the stupid long time it takes to pull on and take off, I will keep them since I plan to be walking 12 hour days and the long term comfort, warmth, and dryness is more important.
This boot is what I was looking for, it’s perfect. Initially, when trying on, it felt a bit tight in the toebox. After walking around for about an hour, the boots fit like a glove. Very pleased and have looked for a darker color of this boot.
I didn't spend $200 for a clearly used shoe. I was super excited for these boots, but I will definitely be returning them and spending money elsewhere.
After reading reviews I went a full size up, which the length is close, but works, still trying to decide if the toe box is too tight to be comfortable. They are also pretty difficult to pull on without a ton of loosening. The look is great, good construction.
These boots are gorgeous and (I thought) exactly what I hoped for as far as a waterproof combat style. Very sadly, while the toe box is roomy, the area across the ball of my foot is tight regardless of how much I loosen the laces - feels somewhat like a rod across the top of my foot. I usually wear a 7.5 and ordered an 8 after reading reviews. The length was nearly perfect and the soles and foot bed feel amazing. I so wanted these boots to work, but I am not the type to suffer for fashion!
