Chaco Men's Lowdown Slide Sandal, Black, 12

Just wanted to set the record straight here because the mixed reviews on these sandals were almost enough for me to not try them.I typically wear a Men's 8 sneaker, sometimes 7.5 or 8.5 if the brand has sizing considerations like that. I am a perfect 7 in these. So I imagine for most people you'll want to size down.I'm not usually a "slides" guy because I hate the sensation of having to scrunch my toes to keep the things on my feet. But I need sandals for a resort vacation where I didn't want to be loosening and tightening straps every time I got out of a pool.I am happy to report that these are not only extremely comfortable, but stay on your feet well if you adjust them right. I walked probably 3 miles in them when they arrived and never once felt like they were falling off. As other reviewers mentioned, the key is to actually keep them fairly loose. I probably only had an inch of slack at the buckle. This allows your in-step to lift up against the straps when you walk rather than just push into them causing your foot to slip out.Seriously, I futzed with the straps for all of 10 seconds and found the sweet spot. Later in the day I tried tightening them down snug and experienced what everyone else did where my foot felt like it was slowly creeping its way out.In short though — keep the straps loose and these are a great hands-free slide and plenty comfortable for walking around in. I plan on living in these on vacation and expect to even take them on some non-technical hikes without issues.

I like the styling of this sandal, but they are pretty narrow and have a prominent arch and hard sole. I am more of Teva guy personally. I like the wider, softer, and flatter sole, but wanted to try something different. These are a quality sandal nonetheless, just not for me.

Fits true to size, so comfortable and durable. Use them all the time!

I don’t know why they designed the straps like this. Unless you have brick shaped feet, these will be loose on your feet. The straps going across your feet are fixed. The tightening strap is separated and only adjusts where the buckle fits, and offers a limited range of looseness and tightness. And again, they based the range of tightness on tall, brick like feet. I put these on with wool socks and they’re still loose. I’ll keep them for around the house since the support is still nice, but I can’t wear these outdoors. Terrible design.

This is my 7th pair over 15 years, first pair of Lowdowns. I see a lot of people saying they don't fit perfectly out of the box and they fall off their feet. Give it time. Wear them around the house for a bit, let your foot make an impression in the footbed. Day one I tightened them down like a pair of Z1s and they pushed my foot out the back, so I loosened them and they stayed on. Day 2, I went for a 2 mile walk and they stayed on but not as comfortable as my 1 year old Chillos. This morning I tightened them a little and went for a 3 mile walk. Blissful. Footbed meets the contour of my foot and I didn't even think about them on my feet. Feeling like my Chillos and my much older Z1s. As far as the end of the long adjusting strap? I have always cut off the extra strap length I don't need on every pair that has them.

So a lot of people rated these 5 stars. They are good quality, seem well made and a pretty good value. I gave them 4 stars however for the following reasons: 1. If you get them wet, they are hard to walk in as your foot slips. 2. If you have narrow feet they are hard to get tight enough as the straps only tighten to a point and do not tighten beyond that, which for me is an issue, but again I have narrow feet. I will keep yhem, good enough for the beach, the dry part of the beach, but when it comes time to replace them, I won't buy another pair. Too bad, I did like that they were simple....Update, I wanted to like these, but the straps needed constant adjustment, always coming loose, so much so that my feet basically came out of them. They now have a new home at my local thrift store. I hope they fit better for the next person...

I just received these, and I'm somewhat disappointed. I own two other pairs of chacos, the Z1 and a Z2. I am in between sizes, a 10 1/2 so for this pair of slides, I ordered the 11. They feel small to me. I am at the max amount of strap and it's a narrow sandal for me. I just received them, and I really want to like them. There is a strap on the outside of my foot that is rubbing though. As far as quality goes, they just do not compare to the other chacos like the Z1 or Z2. They are soft. Some people may like that, but I like the hard rugged chacos. These feel like dense flip flops, dense foam or something. And upon closer inspection, I can see adhesive near one of the straps. Are these sandals going to hold up? I mean, I'm already seeing adhesive. The quality is nothing like my other chacos. The treads are nothing like the Z1 or Z2, they seem much more soft. I suppose for a wear around the house pair of sandals, this could work, as long as there is comfort, but for me, they are already not feeling so great. No way will I order a size 12, that would be far too big for my foot. I think the greatest disappointment to me is the quality of the shoe and the durability. I was hoping for a slide sandal made to the same quality as the Z1 or Z2, but these, they don't appear cheap to me actually. 2 stars from me, and barely that.
