I have a weird foot, ankles overpronate, a lot. These sandals fit. My Left big toe impinges, crosses over on top of my second toe at about a 20-30 degree angle. Has been like this for years. It is painful at the base of the second toe. Nerve pain comes and goes when sitting or lying down, several times during the day and at night for about 5-10 minutes at a time. I've learned to live with the pain, maybe 3 1/2 on a scale of ten. Conventional wisdom advises to avoid foot surgery unless it is the only option. I got the bright idea that toe loop sandals might be of some help. I also purchased some Japanese Ninja toe socks. When I opened the box I wondered how they would fit. Instructions show you how to loosen all the straps. The straps are movable, there is space for straps to slide inside the shoe making them fully adjustable. Like all sandals of this type they are designed so that the toe loop goes around the base of the big toe, perfect position for someone with a normal big toe. For me, it would be ideal if the toe strap was maybe 3/8 inch further up the toe so the straps would exert greater lateral leverage, when tightened; would fully separate my big toe away from number 2. Tugging on the straps, tighten here, loosen there, I was able to get the sandals to fit perfectly. the more I tighten the toe loop strap, the more it pulls the big toe away towards being straight. I need it to be as tight as I can get it. I found a "sweet spot" where it is just enough without being uncomfortable. With Ninja socks and everything properly adjusted, the angle of my toe is 5-7 degrees. This moves my toe so instead of being crossed over on top of toe 2, it brushes against the side of the other toe. Doesn't sound like much, but it makes all the difference. Wow! after all these years--relief. I had this same idea about 5 years ago, but didn't follow through. I have diabetic feet and some ugly, gnarly toes that I would be too embarrased to wear regular flip flops exposing my feet to public scrutiny. With the Ninja socks, and the toe loop, it all looks quite normal. Great for shopping day in summer heat. I'm retired and so far just wearing these sandals around the house to break in. I have flat feet, no arch, but these feel pretty comfortable right out of the box. They are size 12 and looks like they're true to size, certainly not too small. Will update if any problems arise. In spite of my foot problems, I feel no pain when walking while wearing regular shoes. My feet work pretty well and in spite of appearance the only problem is what I've described. It seems now as if all my problems have been solved so I can just enjoy the improvement not having to think about my feet: like-normal.Walter O.
To start off, I'm pretty sure I just have narrower feet than most people, so these fit me a little weird. I can tighten these all the way and they fit nice and snug. Luckily, you don't REALLY need these to be that tight, due to the design of the straps. They hold onto your feet pretty well, no matter what. It took a while for me to get used to the toe strap and getting the right tightness on everything (BTW, aside from the strap that holds your heel, there is only one long strap and it can be adjusted the entire length by pulling it through the sole of the sandal). Other than that, they're pretty comfortable directly out of the box.On top of that, the tread on these things are insane. The only time I've slipped was when I tried to walk on smooth, wet, slimy rocks at the river. Outside of that, it feels like you could go anywhere. My only complaints are the weight (they're not TOO heavy, but if you're doing long distance backpacking, you might want to weigh the option of a lighter pair or something; definitely not a camp sandal that you want in your pack) and the blisters. I heard that you really need to break these in before you do any kind of long distance walking in them, so I wore them while walking around campus one day and ended up with some pretty sad feet. If this is your first time in a pair of Chacos, the straps will rub some pretty weird spots that most other sandals/shoes/boots don't, so you WILL get blisters from a lot of walking. I'm not sure how long it takes to break them in fully, but I would just expect this to be a thing you've gotta deal with for a while. All in all, they're pretty great sandals. Comfy, sturdy, and nice tread, but you'll get blisters at first and they're made for people without stick feet. It's a hard life...
Bought this specific model because the Cloud cushion is much more comfortable than the regular model. If you want it to feel like stepping into a good shoe, the Cloud does it. If you’re looking for a harder surface with a higher arch, the regular version is better for you.I used these for teaching Drum Corps over the summer, and they never failed. Some people will take time to get used to the toe strap (I took a while), but the straps conform to your foot after a while and everything fits great!
Came on time. The Chacos were exactly as described and they were about 24% off compared to Chacos website so I’m happy. 84 bucks compared to 110. I’ve never worn Chacos before but I decided to give them a shot. They are a tad bit on the heavy side compared to my others but are pretty comfortable and not noticeable. Not as soft as I expected for the “Cloud 2” but I could definitely see myself wearing these for an extended period of time. I wear a ten and they fit perfectly and surely have plenty of room for adjustment! If you like sandals then I see no reason why you wouldn’t enjoy these.Edit: after a full day of wearing, about 10 hours, my feet were definitely hurting, no chafing or anything of the sort but my feet must be too wide for these. Will be returning. Too bad as they look awesome.Edit#2: actually never ended up returning and just wearing them because the are so functional. After awhile the sole material softened up quite a bit and they are for sure my go to’s now.
I'm reporting for my S.O. He says the sandal is very comfortable. It's a perfect fit and has good arch support. He loves the lighter weight, so the sandals are aptly named, "Cloud". His only complaint is that the strap ends are pretty long so have to be cut.
