A little extra effort always pays off. So when we made the Banded Z, we went the extra mile. We gave it an extra strap for additional stability. We gave it a leg up on style with colorblocked solids. And then we made sure it was as good for the earth as it is for your feet with our waterless dyeing techniques and our hard-working footbed. Banded Z will take you where you’re going – and always a little further.

Based on the reviews I was seeing I was unsure about getting this version of Chaco. I own a set already of limited edition national parks version but rarely can wear them because they go over the big toe and end up squeasing them. So I needed a set that didn't do that. The reviews kept saying that straps were messed up either too loose or too tight. Like most chacos you can actually adjust the straps which is what I did. I made the front straps a little tighter and loosened the ones over the arches (I have high arches). They are very comfortable once I adjusted them to fit correctly. I am unsure if it's common knowledge you can adjust the straps or not. I wear in tennis shoes an 8.5 in women's and bought a 9. Personally I think they are a tad long in the toe but we shall see how they do once I start wearing them regularly. So far I am happy with them.Update: size down. I got the 9's and they ended up being to big (i normally wear and 8.5 womens). My roommate normally wears a 9.5 womens and she is wearing them instead and says they are very comfortable.
As an seasoned Chaco wearer, I knew what I wanted. My last pair, bless, was child’s size 5, so I was looking to update my style and graduate after four years of intensive, near everyday use (rain, shine, hiking, shopping). They were quite easy to adjust considering i kinda knew what I was wanting the fit to be like. What threw me for a small loop was that the sole was just a bit long, extending past my toes. I’ve worn other women’s size 7 chacos beforehand to make sure that was the size I wanted and they relatively did not have this minuscule, yet noticeable extra sole length at the top. It’s won’t bother the function or the fit, I was just expecting something else. This may have to do with the differing styles of the pair I tried on as they had a toe loop.Overall I am quite pleased and hope to get another 4 years out of this grown up pair!Note: I take my chacos very seriously and will update this review if I feel the need to let you know.Oh, also I’m a big fan of the softer sole. I’m not sure if it’s exclusive or new to this style of Chaco, but damn is it comfy!
I was surprised how heavy they were compared to other shoes I own that are practically weightless but I got use to it quickly. I’ve had zero issues with them from the first use (it’s been months since my purchase). Easy to adjust to your foot, it stays secure, no blisters, have used them for hiking, kayaking, and everyday use. They are actually kinda cute how they have 3 straps- it feels more feminine. Many people recommend the tow strap version but these have been great.I just wish they had more tread.
This is my first pair of Chacos. Previously purchased Teva brand sandals but I was unhappy with how flat the soles were and my husband noted that I had slipped several times while hiking.Teva has really weird colorways for their shoes. I prefer something much more neutral that I can match to different outfits. This shoe is a GREAT neutral off-white (closer to a light gray) that pairs well with anything and is very easy to clean. I've taken them from black mud stains back to perfectly clean several times now.We are big hikers and kayakers. That said, the right shoes are a MUST for rock scrambling, river wading, and other outdoor activities. These shoes have a GREAT grip, the straps around the ankle are so comfortable that they're unnoticeable. They fit perfectly, they're not too tight but they have a little room. They don't get heavy when wet like Teva shoes do. They dry SUPER fast. The sole is not flat but much more naturally shaped and is much more comfortable when walking all day.I took off one star because as others mentioned, the ankle strap is REALLY LONG. It drags the ground and if you're not careful, could cause one to trip and fall. I wanted to cut it off but doing so would mess up how the strap secures to the foot. I was able to tuck the strap in most of the time but plan to Velcro it. Definitely a defect in the product. For nearly $100, you'd think they would have tested this when developing the shoe. However, nothing in life is perfect and hiking shoes are always expensive so I'm still pretty happy with these.
I’ve been a big Chaco fan for years. This is my favorite style of sandal - no toe loop, super comfortable, very secure on my foot. Unfortunately I believe they have discontinued it. I snagged up a second pair before they were gone!
The description states 5 in the heading and there is no alternative size options to click on. I assumed I order a size 5. However, I received a size 10! Returned due to size 5 and because the color wasn't appealing on my skin tone.Me: Normally size 5.5/6. Foot length is 8.65 inches (heel to tip of toe). Very high arches. Sharp pain in heels at end of day in most shoes. Bony feet/ankles.Bought several pairs, size 5, to find which would fit best, be most comfortable and look most neutral on my skin color to match more outfits.I like the Chaco's Z1 classic sandals more than the other brands and even this brand in the strappy style. The cute strappy ones in the kids size 3 didn't adjust as tight as this womens 5! The kids also have 1/4 inch thinner soles even though they're the exact same length. I didn't get to try any Z1 clouds though. The Z2 kept tightening around the toe as I walked so I decided on this style instead.*BTW, Ive been wearing a women's pair for a week now and they are very good at offering all-day support. They hardly look worn despite walking mostly on gravel and dirt. I also caught them on the bottom of an old, rough door. I assumed I had just shredded my new sandals. They didn't have a single sign of damage! This is my first time owning this brand and seems pretty sturdy. Also, the buckles stayed where I adjusted them! The sandals feel very secure which is important for me after an old sprain.*Photos are mostly of the same style. I didn't photograph this pair since it was size 20 instead of 5.
