With a sturdy, lightweight zig-zag sole, the new Dr. Martens myles sandal is an easy slip-on style built for all-day comfort — plus an extra-chunky platform height. Dr. Martens is the stuff of legends. It all began near Munich, Germany in 1945 when Dr. Klaus Maertens injured his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To make walking easier during the healing process, he designed a shoe with an air-cushioned sole. Using old rubber tires, he constructed soles that had air trapped within closed compartments. He showed his prototype to his engineer/inventor friend, Dr. Herbert Funck, and together they decided to develop and produce the shoes. Not only did the shoe solve the doctor's immediate problem, but it also started to sell well in Germany. By 1959 the two decided that they needed a company to produce and distribute the shoes, then called Dr. Maertens, in other parts of the world. At first, many manufacturers rejected the concept of an air cushioned sole as a short-lived gimmick. However, the R. Griggs Group, located in the village of Wollaston in England, decided to go along with the idea by creating the first work boot with the revolutionary sole. On the first of April 1960, the first cherry red eight-eyelet work boot was produced and named 1460. To sell the brand name better in England, the name was anglicized to Dr. Martens. The range was branded AirWair and the rest is history.

Dr. Martens, also known as Doc Martens, Docs, or DMs, has stomped its way into history since 1901. Originally created by Dr. Klaus Maertens, a German soldier who designed a comfortable air-cushioned boot to aid his recovery from a broken foot, the footwear quickly gained popularity. In 1960, the brand we know today was born with the iconic 1460 boot, adopted by British working-class youth and later embraced by various subcultures for its durability and rebellious spirit.
Dr. Martens prioritizes both timeless design and rugged construction. Their shoes are instantly recognizable by their air-cushioned sole, yellow stitching, and utilitarian details. Made with high-quality leather, Dr. Martens boots and shoes are built to withstand years of wear and tear, making them a true investment piece.
When I opened the box I was so happy. My good old Martens with a heavy sole :)They are comfortable and stylish.I'm waiting for summer to enjoy it.I always take women's size 8 Martens. I ordered 8. They fit perfectly.
I think it will take time to get used to them but they are so cute. Im normally 7.5 and i got 7, fits alright.
I LOOOVE these sandals. They’re literally so comfy. I’ve never owned doc sandals before so didn’t know what to expect, but these exceeded my expectations. I didn’t have any trouble breaking them in. The only area I had some rubbing was the tops of my big toes, but after a day or two I didn’t even notice. I’ve been wearing these for almost 2 months now nearly everyday and they’re literally the comfiest shoes I Own. Even comfier than some of my expensive running sneakers. I need them in more colors! I went with the size 8 womens. I am anywhere from a 7/7.5/8 so if you’re having trouble deciding, go up in size!
Great shoes! I wear them almost every day and they hold up great
Nice and sturdy but takes awhile to break in. Gives me blisters on the top of my foot where the straps are :(
I ordered almost every style Doc Marten sandal available on prime before you buy. These are the best looking and the most comfortable. These don't need to be broken in. The leather straps are soft and don't hurt my arthritic old feet. They look the coolest. And they have the best support imo. The trick to comfort is the 2 strap model as opposed to the women's Blaire sandal with 3 straps. I didn't like the whole 3 strap deal at all. These are the ones.
Nearing my 40’s and with flat feet, I needed to find a more supportive sandal - can no longer wear my beloved Sanuk (that has zero support) all the time. I wasn’t sold on the style til I put them on. They are surprisingly versatile, surprisingly not clunky looking once on the feet, and looked cute with every outfit I paired them with from crop jeans to shorts to yoga pants. These will be my go to when I want a casual sandal for travel and when I need to walk long distances. For reference I am typically a size US W 9 (in some styles 8.5), and the 9 fits perfect. I also have the Voss and had read reviews to size down which I did to a size 8 - while they fit, my toes and heel are right up to the edge with no room to spare.
Love the design of these shoes but the strap portion weirdly “stabs” my foot in all places (inside and outer part of both feet). I thought loosening the buckle straps would alleviate it but still the same. The sole itself is pretty comfortable but the straps prevents me from taking more than a few steps. I do know I ordered the correct size since I have other Dr. Martens boots and sandals. Will be sticking to my Birkenstocks instead!
