These shoes are perfect for the crazy, fun loving toddler. They fit well and are easy to get on and off thanks to a single velcro strap at the top. The rest of the shoe's fit is done via a durable cord with cord lock. The fit is excellent. The functional design of the shoes is fantastic. If you know about the adult Keen, then you are aware of the great design. The shoes have protected toe boxes and are equally effective in and out of water. The shoe transitions from trail to water and back to trail without issue. The shoes have good support while also having good cushioning. They dry quickly and are always comfortable, evan after getting wet. I've worn mine all day at water parks, in and out of the water and my feet were comfortable all day.The kids shoes have some small adjustments to make them even better and safer for kids, one is the velcro strap I mentioned earlier. The other is that the heel is enclosed and protected, where the adult shoe has an open heel. This keeps sticks and rocks from fining your toddler's soft heels while they play. My toddler also wears his all day at the water park, and is running around the yard at full speed that afternoon. He has worn them at the park and the closed heel design keeps the multch shards from getting into the shoes. The box toe design has plenty of space for my toddler's feet to flex and work without being squeezed or pinched. As a parent, I've had my toddler get shoes soaking wet by jumping in puddles, then we have wet shoes and socks the rest of the day until we get home, but these Keen are perfect all day shoes, no matter how many puddles he jumps in, or whatever he climbs or experiences at the playground or out shopping with us. I cannot recommend these shoes highly enough, especially if you find them on sale.
These are fantastic. The fit is easily adjustable for a wide variety of feet. My son has average width feet and I have wide width feet and they are comfortable on both of us. Socks are optional when the weather gets cooler (because neither of us like any other shoes as much as we love these.) They are awesome when they get wet because they dry well. We wash ours in the washing machine regularly. They rarely get stinky (even with daily wear and we only wear these shoes in the spring and summer) but they do get dirty. We prefer bright colors so the washing machine restores them to that "new" look. They are always outgrown before the tread is worn out. They are awesome for traversing rocky rivers, hiking trails, and the playground. These also work well for school. I'm not sure if the soles are marketed as non marking but neither of my sons have ever had a problem wearing these for gym class and they've been worn for several years between the two of them. They are also safe for bikes and scooters with the study rubber toe covers. My sons used these to stop their bikes and scooters as they wereb learning and they never managed to do more than scuff them. They are also easy to get on and off. These are the first shoes either of my sons were able to get on and off by themselves in a reasonable amount of time. This is important because my younger son always removes his shoes upon entering a vehicle. These are his favorite shoes but, for him, barefoot is always best.At the time of this review my older son has had 2 pairs of this style, my younger son is on pair 5 currently, and this is my first pair in this style but second year wearing them. (I fit in kids sizes and adult sizes. I don't notice a difference in quality.) We are an outdoorsy family so they see a lot of use.
My 1 year old wore these all summer and they have held up amazing. He has already outgrown but summer is over. I will definitely be buying another pair next summer. The sole is flexible and the foot bed is wide so it's good for new walkers. My 11 year old son has these same ones and they lasted him 3 summers and now he has outgrown his.
I was searching for a sandal for my 4-year-old daughter that is both waterproof and durable. She is quite rough with her shoes and loves to jump into water puddles. After 6 months of use, these sandals have held up pretty well and only show slight signs of wear. What's great about them is that they are wide at the toes, which gives her better balance and more room to wiggle. Despite having a smaller and narrower foot, they fit her comfortably.
Keen is a favorite brand for my kiddo, who is 10yo and wears big kid size 6. We’ve had this same shoe style in several sizes & colors over the years, and it’s consistently one which my son loves and enjoys wearing. They’re very durable and easy to clean, we’ve never had a pair wear out as he always outgrows them & we pass them on. He has worn them as water shoes at the lake in a pinch with no discomfort or slipping. The soles are grippy and great for hiking and playing outside. They do get stinky but all shoes worn by a 10yo boy get stinky! I just try to keep them clean and air them out in the sunshine as much as possible between washes. This brand and style are a great value, highly recommend.
Keen sandals are my family's go-to shoe during the warm weather months. Hiking, the beach, bike rides, my kids wear them on all of their adventures. My kids love them. They fit well and are comfortable. I buy them 2 sizes too big because my kids are growing so fast. The extra length doesn't trip my kids up while their feet grow. These sandals are well made. While Keens are on the more expensive side for kids shoes, they hold up so well, that they get passed down to the next kid in near-new condition. We have a pair that's lasted through a couple kids and about 4 summers of constant use. I think one child wore them for about 200 miles on his balance bike (3-5 miles every day really adds up). We replaced his bike tires 2x in that time and tread on his shoes is still in good shape, as is the upper. Only the Velcro is starting to go.Honestly, my kids have abused their sandals and they still look new. When they start to smell ripe, or get extra muddy, I just throw them in int washing machine and let them air dry. Good as new.TL;DR: Totally worth the money and will continue to outfit my entire family in Keen footwear.
