I have written reviews for other styles of Pediped Originals, but I feel that it is valuable to have as many different opinions about kid stuff as possible.Pros:- Lots of nice air flow. My daughter runs hot so putting her in shoes that breath is very important.- Enclosed heal and tow. Toddlers (or mine, anyway) stub their toes and like to use their heals to hook when they climb.- Pretty. At 16 months, my daughter is already starting to tap into her inner princess.- Wide, soft sole. My daughter tends to walk funny in shoes that do not give her feet plenty of room.Cons:Pediped Originals aren't for every child. They are expensive and the sizing is odd. I think that they are actually designed to be big so that little feet have plenty of room to spread out. The risk to this is that because they don't have much grip and your child's foot slides around inside of them, they might not work for your kid. With my son, I found that cheap, soft rubber-soled sneakers worked much better. However, in my daughter's case, it was even more frustrating to try several different brands of less expensive shoes only to find that she just can't walk in them and would end up falling and skidding her poor little nose. (My son, even when he did fall, had much faster reflexes.) Anyhow, I would recommend trying them if you are finding that your child is rolling her foot a lot when she walks or walks with a strong pigeon toe or duck foot.
I can't tell you how much I love these shoes for my daughter. She started walking at 11 months and while she was still a bit wobbly I didn't want her to have big chunky shoes, but instead flexible, softer soles. I loved our Robeez/moccasin type shoes when she was crawling so I wanted to find something similar with a sturdier bottom. We just came back from a 2 week trip where she did quite a bit of walking each day and these shoes were perfect. The bottom is rubber, but flexible, so she could get around easily while still protecting her feet from water. They are leather so after a few wears they formed to her foot and best of all-the don't stink! You can wipe them off with a rag, they are SO easy to put on and off (yet she can't get them off her own feet), and they are adorable! For sizing, she was measured at a 3 1/2 or 4 wide in infant shoe size (she still has her baby fat pudgy feet) and I bought a 6-12 month and they fit with still a little room to grow. Will definitely be getting a pair in the next size, too!
These are great toddler shoes. The quality and workmanship on the shoe is top notch. The shoe top is completely made of leather, and the bottom is a rubber with very small nubs for traction. Very helpful shoe for kids who are learning to walk and do better being able to feel a bit of the ground beneath them rather than other shoes with a thicker sole. We receive compliments from people all the time about how cute these are--I wish they were made in bigger kids sizes. The Velcro works great to keep the shoe on, but it can also be removed by little hands when in the car or if they're trying to be helpful and remove and put away their own shoes. They are a bit pricey, but well worth it. Only issue we had was needing to put a little moleskin on the inside top, near the middle of the shoe where the thread from the flower that's sewn on top was rubbing the top of the foot.
These sandals are very well made, they are light-weight, and have soft leather inside and outside and a flexible, non-slippery sole that also provides good support for a new walker. My daughter has small wide feet (at 12 months, size 0-6 months is still a little large on her) and it is difficult to find small shoes that are wide enough and also have a supportive non-slippery sole for walking. These are the best option I've found after many unsuccessful attempts. It is a bonus that they are adorable and can be worn with just about any color clothing.
It is a cute pair of shoes, but they are way to big for my 12 month old. I am afraid that when her feet grows into them it will be winter and she won't be able to ware them.
Bought these Daisy sandals in size 12-18 for my 12 month old. They fit perfect. And my idea of perfect is "roomy". There's just enough room for her to feel comfortable without her foot sliding around inside. She has other Jack and Lilly mocs shoes in the same size that are also comfy but she prefers these. I think the sole lets her use her toes to balance herself so she falls less in these shoes than all the others she owns. The design is super cute and lets in plenty of air for her sweaty little feet. Great summer sandal! Great sandal for new walkers!
Great first shoes. My daughter is just starting to walk. These seem to be comfortable for her. Well made. Look cute and stay on well. Easy to get them on and off. They're a little stiffer than the Robeez soft soled shoes but they're good. I wanted a pair of summer sandals and these have been great. She wears them all day every day at daycare and they're wearing very well. Would buy them again.
These shoes are super cute, and super sturdy. My 2 1/2 year old has small feet, so she is still in the 18-24 month size. I love that she is still able to wear this soft soled shoes! She is flat footed so I feel that these are giving her the foot strength that she needs. This is our third pair of pedipeds; we have been using them since my daughter could walk. They last for a very long time, and I love that my daughter can put them on and take them off all by herself. These are very well worth the price.
