Wow! My feet are difficult to fit, especially after the forefoot widened during pregnancy. They're also kind of bony, and narrower at the heel. These were super-comfortable right out of the box. I don't even need to add arch supports, as I often do. I'm buying another pair in a different color! I love the platform height and ageless look of this shoe. FYI I'm 5'9" and wear a size 10 US or 41 EUR. Thank you Sanita!
I usually wear European shoe size 39. I have several wonderful pairs of Sanitas, all in size 39. This particular style runs small. In fact, I think all the recent (c. 2017) Sanita styles have been running small in the forefoot, so if your forefoot is a little bigger than your heel area, or if you have a slight wedge shape to your foot, definitely order the next size up from your usual European size. The saving grace of some other shoe styles from Sanita is that they allow you to adjust the width of the forefoot with buckles. This style doesn't, and the synthetic vinyl doesn't seem as willing to stretch as genuine leather.Usually, the Sanita sizing says that 39 covers the U.S. sizes 8.5 & 9, but I notice that this particular model says that it covers 8 & 8.5 - a big clue that Sanita knows they're running a bit small. So these are going back, and in the meantime, I was able to find some Dansko Season sandals in beige. Those are actually preferable, because they offer velcro adjustment at both the ankle and forefoot. Score!
I find these sandals very comfortable. I was looking for sandals that had the same sole as my Sanita clogs and these are very close. I would echo what has been said by some of the other reviewers - the strap across the toes is tight. Since they are leather though they have stretched a bit with wear.
