Find a smile in the sidewalk surfer that started it all!. You won't have a care in the world in the Vagabond from Sanuk. It features a shoe upper with a sandal bottom offering complete comfort with a little extra protection. You'll love everything about this washed canvas shoe, er, sandal--the dual elastic goring for an easy on/off, the relaxed-outdoorsy style, and the high-abrasion rubber outsole, just to mention a few. Sanuk was started by surfers in southern California in the late '90s who were looking for footwear that reflected their lighthearted way of life. Founder Jeff Kelley was disappointed to see little selection in a category of footwear that had become his main shoe staple: the flip flop. Jeff had always been interested in footwear and with a little help from a few friends Sanuk was born. Years later, the Sanuk brand still delivers out of the ordinary, quality product to surf and specialty shops every season and has helped bring the flip-flop category from a summer only item to something worn all year. These were a gift for my husband, he loves them. They are an awesome shoe. Lightweight, made very well, the top material is not rough it is a soft hemp fabric. Priced just right. If you’re looking for knock around shoes these are it! Great product. He found that his normal size 10 fit perfect. Loved the idea of try before you by…everyone should try it.
Had a pair of these previously in a different color and love them, so decided to buy them in black. Very comfortable easy to get on and off and look good also. Very lightweight. Almost feels like you’re not wearing any shoes.
Glad the were on sale. Perfect fit
Purchased these shoes as a replacement to my well worn and very comfortable Skechers shoes that I've had for years.I had been looking for a similar shoe but could not find the original shoes that I had bought back in 2011. These shoes are about as close as a find to the Skechers shoes that I love. These shoes are the type that get more and more comfortable as you wear them. They do fray but are meant to do so which gives them "character" over time. They do have air holes which are nice if you prefer to wear them without socks. I prefer to wear socks however as I don't like the feel of the material on my bare feet. The soles of these shoes are a little larger than I would have liked and looking down at my feet the Sanuk Vagabonds sort of remind me of clown shoes with the huge rounded toe. The Skechers did have a nice addition of a plaid lining which I thought was a nice added touch that the Sanuks do not have. Overall though, I am sure I will love these as I continue to wear them and I am sure they will mold nicely to my feet and be as comfortable over time as my Sketchers have proven. They do come with a plastic hanger which is sort of gimmicky as I would never hang my shoes on a hanger. I ended up recycling the plastic hanger. I don't think this is a necessary item to include with the product and think the company could save some money by not including these. That being said, I will definitely purchase from Sanuk again as I like that they offer a variety of shoe sandal styles and colors. You will like your purchase if you are looking for a comfortable every day shoe to wear and being a surfer is not a prerequisite to own a pair. :)
I bought these shoes for my fiancè as a birthday present and he is a huge fan. They're a great slip on sandal/shoe, awesome for after the beach. He's a surfer and he loves wearing these after the beach. Here's a breakdown of the product:Size: Sanuks definitely fit a little tight when you get them. Buy them true to your size though, because they definitely stretch over time.Durability: They have the foam bottoms which some people are wary about them wearing over time, which they do, but they are more durable than you would think.Color: I ordered the Brindle ones, the color was exactly as expected. Looked the same as the picture.Fit: Extremely comfy. I have a few pairs of these myself. They are perfect for when you don't want to wear flip flops in the summer and are looking for an alternative.Cleaning: Best thing about Sanuks? You can pop them right in the washing machine on the cold setting. They come out looking brand new!Overall, highly recommend this product. Sanuk is an amazing brand and it continually shows through their products year after year.
I was worried about the fit of these shoes, so I tried them on locally first. I'm glad I did. I normally wear an 11 in running or athletic shoes, and a 10.5 dress shoe in medium (D) width. In these shoes an 11 had my toes pushing out the front. Due to the design, you can get away with that actually, since the fabric is so soft, but the 12 felt much better.I used to think these were the most hilarious looking shoes. Then I decided to give them a try. I like funky footwear, and these are so comfortable I just don't care. But I still call them my "hobo" or "homeless" shoes. It's funny watching some of the looks you get wearing these! Some people will do a bit of a double take.Regarding the arch: there's not much arch support. Normally this would've prevented my purchase. But I'm starting to believe that the most important feature of a shoe is room for your toes to spread out naturally, and when permitted to do so, you foot does not need an arch support (read some of Simon J. Wikler's writings online...the books are out of print, but you can find excerpts.) In looking at hundreds upon hundreds of natives feet (people who had never worn a shoe in their life,) he noticed not a single one had fallen arches. But in the western world, when the foot is forced into an area too small and the toes curl or are scrunched up, the arch loses its strength. It makes a lot of sense. (He also attributed many of our modern foot ailments to an elevated heel, but that's another story.) Anyway, it is with that idea that I really wanted to try these shoes. One other thing I will say is these shoes are very cool...as in temperature-wise. My feet get cold easily and I really notice it in these. Might make a difference for some.Give these a shot if you want pure comfort.
I like these slip ons alot, really comfortable and easy going style. They run a bit small so definitely go up one size, otherwise they fit fairly snug.
