I walk everyday. I live in Los Angeles, I only where boots at work, sandals are my preferred foot-where, these are perfect. My last pair of another brand lasted a year and a half. I am hoping to have these do just as well, they are off to a good start. Size was perfect, very comfortable and sturdy.Price was right!
Yes! It is tailored fit to my feet as well as comfortable. And it is highly recommendable to others.
These sandals are very comfortable. They have good cushion and support. They also look great!
As far as Teva sandals go, these being about $40 (at the time of this review) make them a steal. These are excellent hiking sandals. They feel and fit very much like the Hurricane XLT 2 line, but have a different aesthetic (the "dad sandal" if you will). The uppers are suede and look and feel much like a more rugged Birkenstock. Overall, a really nice balance of comfort, aesthetics, and stability. If you've worn other Teva sandals, you'll feel very much at home. If not, this is a good pair to start with. As always, be sure to wear them gradually so you have time to break them in.My main issues: like all Teva sandals, they are huge. I normally wear size 10 and they were gigantic. I had to size down all the way to 8 to get a proper fit. This pair was no exception. Size down at least one or two times. The other issue, more specific to my feet, is the toe strap can cause some discomfort. It does not rub, so blisters aren't really a concern, rather they can just apply pressure. Specifically the toe strap causes some discomfort on my right foot, as the strap seems to be sitting directly on top of the big toe joint. This is likely something that will go away as part of the gradual break-in process. But it's uncomfortable enough I cannot presently wear these all day.
These sandals are quite comfortable, lightweight with very sturdy straps and durable soles. Overall good value.
Great sandals. Fit great and very comfortable. No break in period.
I got in one shipment all in size mens size 11:Teva Obern 11Teva Toachi 11Teva Katavi 11Teva Hurricane 11Katavi - of the four, these fit me the best and were the most comfortable. The Katavi and Hurricanes had a virtually identical fit once adjusted, but the suede strapping and mesh panels on the Katavi made them more comfortable than the Hurricanes - for the same fit. The Toachi were far far too narrow and spongy feeling with what seemed a bad tread design, so the Katavi are the winners for me.Katavi 10 3/4 oz 308g (single mens 11)Here are the differences and comparisons of the various sandals (see photos):Weight of single sandal (size 11):Obern 383g (13 1/2oz)Toachi 343g (12oz)Katavi 308g (10 3/4oz)Hurricane 295g (10 1/2oz)Note that that the Katavi and Hurricane XLT weigh almost exactly the same, even though the Hurricane is billed as ultra-light and the Katavi not advertised as such so much by Teva. The four from top, side, tread are in review photos.Hurricane and Katavi had identical treads with different slightly foot beds. The shape and foot fit of the beds was virtually identical for the Hurricane and Katavi. The Obern was close, but had a higher arch support and was more rigid and felt a bit narrower at the middle foot. I felt the arch support too much on the Oberns. The Toachi in contrast had an extremely narrow tread and footbed and my foot could not even fit on it.All of these were size 11 in mens - but they fit very differently. The Hurricane and Katavi are the most similar, and the Katavi with the extra side mesh panels and suede material for the strapping was much more comfortable with and without socks. The material used for the Hurricanes was not nearly as comfortable and the expose rings added to that feeling compared to the Katavi. The Hurricanes, however, I expect would handle being wet better than the Katavi and dry faster.
Summer 2016: 1st Review: Very good walking shoes/sandals with some arch support. I got two pairs, one for my husband and another one for my son, and they both love them. The soles are cushioned and have good arch support. My son has very flat feet so needs inserts in his shoe,s but these worked well without them to walk around hot weather in Florida all day long at Disney. He used to only wear walking shoes with inserts, but he wore them all summer long after that because they're so comfortable and .perfect to cool his feet. My husband loves his too. He had problems with plantar fascitis so they perfect for him too because they have good arch support for that problem too. The soles are very padded. He can adjust the velcro straps with his problems of swelling with the heat (due the circulatory problems). After seen how great the are, I search for something similar for me, so I finally got the Hurricane Teva's for women. They are not leather but the cloth straps are comfortable and also adjustable with velcros, plus the soles are also soft and padded, with a bit of support enough for standing and walking for hours. I have the opposite problem to my son, my arches are to pronounced and the bone on the top of my foot sticks out. They are great for my plantar fascitis, without inserts. . I just wished that the had them in soft leather with the same type of soles...
