These are great sandals. My boys love them. This is one son's second pair (had this same style a couple summers ago), so I knew what I was getting when I ordered them: comfortable, good looking, and well made.I'm a bit unsure how anyone can say these run small, though. To me, they run somewhat large. For instance, I ordered a size 3 (Little Kid) for one son who has been wearing a pair of size 3 Saucony sneakers for a few months now (his feet are presumably the same or bigger), and these sandals are a lot bigger...he has at least 1/2" to 3/4" inch room in length on these sandals. I was sure they were too big, but he insists they aren't so big he'll trip, so we're keeping them. Same thing for my second son...he's wearing a 1.5 extra-wide in Saucony sneakers, so I ordered a size 2 (Little Kid) in these. Length is also 1/2" to 3/4" longer than expected. Since both boys insist they fit fine, this works for me, since I know these sandals will last throughout two summers!!!Even though these sandals don't come in wide widths, the footbed is wide enough to accommodate my one son's wide feet, and the velcro straps are long enough and very adjustable, so they work well.Maybe Saucony sneakers run small...???
We have a large family and purchased 6 pairs of these, ranging in size from Toddler 7 to Big Kid 6. Unlike other reviewers, we found every pair to fit precisely true to size. I love that they are sturdy like a tennis shoe for active play but cute enough to wear under casual dresses to church. My children have all worn these every single day, all summer long. They've held up beautifully. We packed up the socks and put them away for the summer.I am so amazed by the great value and quality I got for the price of this shoe. We've owned many other more expensive luxury children's shoe brands and never had such a sturdy sandal. They did give two of my children blisters the first time they were worn. In the future, I will put bandaids on the backs of heels at first to prevent this. We almost gave up on them, and I'm so glad we did not. They "broke in" very quickly, and all are very comfortable now. I plan to buy 7 new pairs again next summer.
It is really difficult to find sturdy, low-cost sandals for active, outside-loving girls once they get past a certain age (size). Each year, it is a battle to find decent-looking sandals that will hold up to the abuse my kids give them. While this sandal cost more than I want to spend (since I have five kids), it seems like it will hold up for the whole summer. The kids have been wearing them daily for almost a month so far - four months to go!These provide some cushion, are easy to get on and off, and grip my kids' feet tightly when running and playing. So far, I'm very pleased with the value for the money. The skid-resistance seems like enough as well. One of my kids has the "black/white" (red inner) color ones and another has the "black/royal" (blue inner) color.-----Updated after two months: These are still going strong. They clean up pretty well, have held their color(s), and so far are holding together great.-----Updated after five months: These have lasted from spring all the way through until fall. While they aren't overly stylish, they are definitely worth the money and have held up great!-----Updated over a year later: My oldest girl to have these still fit in them at the beginning of spring #2. They lasted until almost the end of June of Year #2. The bottom of the toe area detached and started flopping. Daughter asked for another pair just like them (with room to grow) because they are comfy and easy to run in.
I bought these for my very picky 8 year-old daughter. She is very picky about her clothes and shoes, and she hates it when I buy her things from Amazon because she can't try them on first. Even so, she loves the sandals. I ordered an extra half size over, and when they arrived they fit about half a size large. After two months, they fit her perfectly. They fit well without being too loose in the heel, and don't fall off her feet when she is running like some sandals do. She is a very active kid, but these still clean up and look like new. So far, there are no cracks or tears. My 1-1/2 year old wants to be just like her sister, so we bought a pair for her, too. I am happy with the purchase!
**UPDATED AFTER THREE YEARS: The 6-yo mentioned below is now 9, and these sandals are holding up. (See photo.) We live in the Pacific Northwrst so we are only wearing them in summer, but my kids are extremely hard on shoes and I'm putting the navy blue pair on the younger kid and buying the 9-yo a larger pair. Good durability and value.**. I bought these to replace a pair of Keens, which my 6yo son never wanted to wear because they're so hard for him to put on and take off. (They're also expensive and seem to produce a foul foot stink in short order.) I got these Timberlands in navy blue/yellow, which got the seal of approval from him, and he happily wore them the last six weeks of summer. He has been wearing them hard--tree-climbing, playgrounds, beach, etc., and I'm impressed at how well they've held up. I bought a little large so hopefully he can wear them next summer, too.My only complaint is that the ankle strap is VERY long. My son has skinny legs and ankles, granted, but the end of the thing is flapping almost to the ground. This bothers me more than it bothers him, however! I suppose you could cut it off.Overall, I think they're an excellent value; I bought another pair for my younger son for next summer. (His cheapo sandals from [local retailer], unshockingly will not survive to see another summer.)
My daughter gets eczema on her feet so I need something soft that won’t rub her feet. It is so hot in the summer she needs sandals for camp. This is the third summer I have gotten these sandals as they are cushioned under the straps to protect the feet and very well made. They still look good as new after she has outgrown them and we pass them on to charity. Sturdy, good support for an active 5 year old and soft at the same time. Highly recommend this product.
