Lacks flex in the sole- does have groves in the sole which allows them a small amount of flex.7. Thick sole I purchased these for daily use in an environment where there is a lot of large thorns on the ground (mesquite and other pokey things). These are on the heavy side, but should serve their purpose well. I feel that these run slightly short in length, less that half of a size.

These shoes are really nice. Nice straps and sole BUT the straps run large! I wear a 10M. Not narrow or wide feet. The straps were too big that my heel kept falling off. Returned.
