About Walking Shoes

Walk This Way: Top Picks for Comfort and Support in Walking Shoes

Walking is a fantastic way to stay active, improve your health, and explore the world around you. But a comfortable and supportive pair of walking shoes is essential to make your walks enjoyable and prevent injuries. With so many options on the market, choosing the right walking shoes can feel overwhelming. Fear not, fellow walkers! This guide will unveil some of the top picks for walking shoes, ensuring you find the perfect pair for hitting the pavement in comfort and style.

Understanding Your Needs: The Perfect Walking Shoe for Every Walker

Before diving into specific recommendations, let's consider some key factors to think about when choosing walking shoes:

  • Terrain: Will you be walking primarily on sidewalks, trails, or a mix of both? Different terrains require different shoe features.
  • Walking Distance: Are you a casual walker who enjoys strolls around the neighborhood, or do you train for long-distance walks/hikes?
  • Support Needs: Do you have any specific foot conditions or require extra arch support for maximum comfort?

Top Picks for Walking Shoe Comfort and Support: Walk in Confidence

Now, let's get to the good stuff! Here are some of the best walking shoes that prioritize comfort and support for various walking styles:

  • Cushioned Comfort: Brands like Brooks and Hoka One One offer shoes with exceptional cushioning, perfect for long walks or those who need extra shock absorption.
  • Lightweight Performance: For brisk walks or those who prioritize speed, consider lightweight walking shoes from brands like Adidas or New Balance. These shoes offer good support without feeling bulky.
  • Trail-Ready: If your walks take you off the beaten path, opt for trail-specific walking shoes from brands like Salomon or Merrell. These shoes provide added stability and traction on uneven terrain.
  • Supportive Stability: For walkers with specific foot needs or those who require extra arch support, brands like Saucony and Asics offer shoes with advanced support features.

Walk in Comfort and Style: Additional Tips for Choosing Walking Shoes

Beyond the brand and specific features, here are some additional tips for selecting the perfect walking shoes:

  • Get sized properly: A snug but comfortable fit is essential. It's best to get sized at a reputable shoe store in the afternoon when your feet are slightly swollen.
  • Consider your socks: The socks you wear can impact the fit and feel of your shoes. Choose socks specifically designed for walking or athletic activities.
  • Take them for a test walk: Don't just try the shoes on in the store; walk around in them to ensure they feel comfortable and supportive.

Lace Up and Explore: The World Awaits You in Comfort

With the right walking shoes on your feet, you'll be ready to conquer any path. Remember, comfort and support are key to making your walks enjoyable and preventing injuries. So, lace up your new walking shoes, embrace the fresh air, and walk this way towards a healthier and happier you!

it's a mule/slide shoe

First off, I usually wear a 10 medium, I ordered an 11 based on previous reviews of it running small. The instep where you slide your foot into IS kinda tight, but I assumed that there would be some stretch, and there was. It is a mostly flat insole, not much of an arch support. So if you have a high arch it might not work for you. I broke these shoes in by starting out in bare feat in the shoe. After walking around the in the house for about a week off and on I can feel it had stretched a bit. I then went to thin socks. As the shoe stretches it also formed to my foot well. This is a slide in, slide off shoe that I usually wear around the house. They work for me.

The shoes were excellent quality, but tight..

I really would like to wear these shoes more often. I need a shoe horn to get them on my feet. I am keeping them, but probably I should have a half size larger. It is one challenge of ordering shoes on the internet...

I love these shoes

Had an old pair of slides, that I wore until they just about literally fell off my feet. Finally, bit the bullet, and bought something (slightly) different, since I could no longer find those. I love these shoes! They're comfortable, right out of the box, the color is great, they darkened with just a little bit of oil...and they're EASY to kick on and off at the front door!

Nice Quality, Poor Fit

Read some reviews that said these run small, so I ordered a half size larger. The problem is not really the overall size, it's that the part of the shoe running across the top of your foot is low and has no give. If you have medium to high arches, you won't be able to get your foot all the way into the shoe. (I even tried shoe stretcher spray that I bought on Amazon. No dice.) Since I get get my foot all the way in, my heel pushes out the back, sitting over or too tightly against the back lip, and it wore that part of the shoe out quickly. Already worn through in a couple of months. It's a shame because it's otherwise a well constructed, nice looking shoe. If you have flat feet, it's probably a good shoe.

Much too small

I normally take a size 11.5 to 12 shoe. I saw that many people had mentioned in their reviews that these ran small, so I made sure to use the fitting guide provided to select the right size for me to order. It said that size 12 should be right for me so that's what I ordered. The shoes came early on the second day after I had ordered them and I put on some thin dress socks and tried them on. Or, more accurately, I attempted to try them on. I couldn't get more then half my foot into the shoe. Maybe I just have fat feet. Maybe it's because I have a high instep. Maybe it's because these shoes don't have any elastic on either side of where the tongue would be if they had laces like many other slip-on shoes have.Whatever the reason, they're going back. If you're a thin person with a low instep these might work for you, but they don't for me.

break in like boot

Despite all reviews saying they run small, i still bought regular size. They were hard to get my foot all the way in. Then liberally rubbed down with rubbing alcohol and directly after alcohol use petroleum jelly. Then went around each stretching it and wore rest of day. Next morning they were perfect fit.

These run VERY small

The shoes are well made and once you figure out the size you need, they are quite comfortable. They were for my son, who normally wears a 10. I first ordered a 10 1/2 and they were too small. He asked for an 11 1/2 and they fit great!
