Ankle BootsDr. Martens is the stuff of legends. It all began near Munich, Germany in 1945 when Dr. Klaus Maertens injured his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To make walking easier during the healing process, he designed a shoe with an air-cushioned sole. Using old rubber tires, he constructed soles that had air trapped within closed compartments. He showed his prototype to his engineer/inventor friend, Dr. Herbert Funck, and together they decided to develop and produce the shoes. Not only did the shoe solve the doctor's immediate problem, but it also started to sell well in Germany. By 1959 the two decided that they needed a company to produce and distribute the shoes, then called Dr. Maertens, in other parts of the world. At first, many manufacturers rejected the concept of an air cushioned sole as a short-lived gimmick. However, the R. Griggs Group, located in the village of Wollaston in England, decided to go along with the idea by creating the first work boot with the revolutionary sole. On the first of April 1960, the first cherry red eight-eyelet work boot was produced and named 1460. To sell the brand name better in England, the name was anglicized to Dr. Martens. The range was branded AirWair and the rest is history.

Loooove these fly Docs. Good quality, color brightness is accurate in the pic & as far as Docs go, these are comfy. If you’ve never worn Docs before, you’ll think they’re stiff. I’m a size 8 US & fit is true to size, just a tad loose on the heel.
I love love these shoes! I've been a fan of Dr. Martens forever and a day. The shoes came, were too big, exchange was easy, I received the perfect fit pair and received so many compliments! Super cute for spring with the colors and in true Dr. Martens fashion SUPER comfortable! Love them!

These are beautiful beautiful shoes- but beware, they are heel killers!Great to wear with socks, but not very fashionable at that point.
Adorable!!!!! These shoes are worth every penny. They are unique. I have a short wide foot and usually go up half a size, but I cold have just bought these in my regular size.
The color and fit were not what I was wanting. The shoe is very stiff (should have expected that, since they are the Dr. Marten brand). The fit was loose over all, but excessively loose in the heel. I usually wear a medium and most mediums are fine on me. I often like combinations of color and this seemed to be exciting when I saw on my computer, but the combination would not go with what I was wanting to match (madras blazer) as they are extremely shiny and much brighter. I returned them.
Love the colors and style. A very unique shoe.
