Dr. Martens, also known as Doc Martens, Docs, or DMs, has stomped its way into history since 1901. Originally created by Dr. Klaus Maertens, a German soldier who designed a comfortable air-cushioned boot to aid his recovery from a broken foot, the footwear quickly gained popularity. In 1960, the brand we know today was born with the iconic 1460 boot, adopted by British working-class youth and later embraced by various subcultures for its durability and rebellious spirit.
Dr. Martens prioritizes both timeless design and rugged construction. Their shoes are instantly recognizable by their air-cushioned sole, yellow stitching, and utilitarian details. Made with high-quality leather, Dr. Martens boots and shoes are built to withstand years of wear and tear, making them a true investment piece.
Loved these boots so much I bought them again - overall, 4.5 stars. The good:- Stylish casual boots. They're clunky and big in the best of ways; if this isn't for you, don't get them.- These worked for hiking, daily wear, and and extremely casual work environment, although I also wore them with a blazer for a business casual look several times.- Lace to fit tightly.- Incredibly comfortable.- Ankle support without being obvious. The initial few wears can be stiff around the ankles; recommend wearing higher socks (hiking height) to protect your skin until the boots soften a bit. This is worth it for the stabilization factor while hiking or walking over uneven terrain.- More sole support than expected. I can and have stood for hours in these boots. I can and have walked for miles as well, including a multi-hotel conference in Las Vegas. No problem, even though I usually need more arch support.- I don't know whether they're specifically waterproof, but they seem to be at least water resilient. I'd come out of a hike with dry feet when my companion was soaked.- Worth the cost - I got my money's worth.- Wore these near daily, and the boots held up very well until they didn't.The less great:- Wear slightly higher (ankle-height) socks to avoid blisters just above the heel on your Achilles tendon. This need did not go away for me. You can't wear tiny, thin socks and survive in these boots without some pain. It was fine with a good pair of thick running socks that had a fabric tab in the back. I had to purchase these socks, so that was a little annoying.- They squeak. This does not go away, but it does get better.- These boots repelled dust and mud for eight months of constant wear. At the eight month mark, I wore these to a dusty Renaissance festival, and they failed to fully recover. Prior to that, I kept getting asked if I had new boots.- At the eight month mark, the sole on the side also began to slightly separate from the fabric slightly on one boot, right where your foot bends at the toes. I kept my original pair for another four months - wearing them slightly less - and it didn't get worse, so they held up fairly well.- While I'm pretty tough on boots overall, eight months (versus several years) is quite early to have issues with Doc Martens. Extended lifespan is why I switched from Army surplus to Doc Martens years ago. I assume it's because of the fabric material versus leather, but as mentioned, whatever this fabric is, it's quite resilient overall. The cost is also lower on these, so the value is still quite good, considering how much I wore them.Total time elapsed without showing signs of visible wear with near-daily use: eight months.Total time elapsed before purchasing pair number two: one year.TLDR; so good I bought them twice - but I had to buy them twice.
I have chronic health condition that affects the joints in my feet and ankles. I have not found any other quality foot wear than this brand. These are especially nice and my favorites for their ease putting on, durability, comfort, and the awesome color ! I would recommend these to any one, especially those requiring foot protection with added vomfort . They do not over heat my feet and are not clumpy what so ever...very good purchase!
Can not say enough good things about this boot. The sole is comfortable- so comfy I didn't even feel like they needed broken in! Mind you I broke my foot July 2022 and had 2 surgeries so I wear dr scholls inserts- which I switched over to these and they fit perfect. I'm a Cosmetology student and am on my feet for many many hours on the salon floor. These are amazing. They give me ankle support I didn't know i needed and are great, sturdy boots. I love that I got them in winter so I can go outside in the rain, snow, slush and have no issue with wet feet or even slipping. I'm usually a 10.5/11 in women's depending on brand and ordered a 10. Fit perfect- they also seem to a bit a good width at the two box. I'm 5'9 so I'm not big on heels- these give a tiny bit of lift and are a tad heavier than my other footwear- literally all sneakers tho. but don't make me feel like I'm gonna trip or have fatigue. I wear high socks and either fold them down once or wear them high and cover with my jeans or just let them show! I have these cute rubber duckies socks I wear to school with my black leggings tucked in and it looks great.Overall super happy with my first impression of Doc Martens. I've been considering a pair for ages and when I saw the price? I couldn't not try them. I wear them all day everyday with my sweatpants, leggings, jeans. Buy them!!
I have been wearing foam shoes because of my bad back. This is the first time back into a regular shoe. The fit, the comfort, the look, glad to be back in Docs. The price was excellent, too
This is a great boot. Super comfortable and really cute. There is one issue- you must size down! I normally wear a 7 1/2 but will wear an 8 if only whole sizes are available. The size 8 was huge on me. I returned the 8 and ordered a 7, a half size down from my normal shoe size. The 7 fits perfectly. For reference, I have wide feet and a high arch. A half size down was good for me. A narrower foot could probably go down a full size...
My first pair ever I’m an eight and half usually so I got an eight and they are so comfy and stylish I can dress them up or down with any outfit. They hold up to the nasty winter weather we get here in PA and let me tell ya that’s saying a lot.The quality the look and the price are unmatched.Already planning getting a second pair of dr martens because they are that’s good.
These boots are amazing and great quality. So comfortable and perfect. Just get 1 size than u normally wear. I will most likely buy another backup pair because i love them so much! Great boots for cold weather :)
These are really good work boots. If you get your size, there is space to wear thick socks. If you wear thin socks, your feet will have room to move, but comfortably. The material resembles canvas and is durable. I’ve spilled Clorox on the material, washed it with a wet towel and left now bleach marks. The boot goes up past the ankle, but doesn’t rub against your ankle. I use these boots at least 5 days a week for manual labor work and they are great!
