The shriver hi is a thoroughly modern boot for the alternative fashion consumer with an extra chunky sole that elevates the wearer. A rugged heeled boot that gives a feeling of power. Care instructions - Wipe away dirt with damp cloth, ensure shoes are dry then apply Dr. Martens Wonder Balsam using the sponge applicator Dr. Martens is the stuff of legends. It all began near Munich, Germany in 1945 when Dr. Klaus Maertens injured his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To make walking easier during the healing process, he designed a shoe with an air-cushioned sole. Using old rubber tires, he constructed soles that had air trapped within closed compartments. He showed his prototype to his engineer/inventor friend, Dr. Herbert Funck, and together they decided to develop and produce the shoes. Not only did the shoe solve the doctor's immediate problem, but it also started to sell well in Germany. By 1959 the two decided that they needed a company to produce and distribute the shoes, then called Dr. Maertens, in other parts of the world. At first, many manufacturers rejected the concept of an air cushioned sole as a short-lived gimmick. However, the R. Griggs Group, located in the village of Wollaston in England, decided to go along with the idea by creating the first work boot with the revolutionary sole.

Dr. Martens, also known as Doc Martens, Docs, or DMs, has stomped its way into history since 1901. Originally created by Dr. Klaus Maertens, a German soldier who designed a comfortable air-cushioned boot to aid his recovery from a broken foot, the footwear quickly gained popularity. In 1960, the brand we know today was born with the iconic 1460 boot, adopted by British working-class youth and later embraced by various subcultures for its durability and rebellious spirit.
Dr. Martens prioritizes both timeless design and rugged construction. Their shoes are instantly recognizable by their air-cushioned sole, yellow stitching, and utilitarian details. Made with high-quality leather, Dr. Martens boots and shoes are built to withstand years of wear and tear, making them a true investment piece.
These boots are fantastic. Not only are they super cute. Can be dressed up or down but they are incredibly comfortable. I took them brand new on vacation and wore them for 3 days straight. Had a little rub on my heel but did not ever give me a blister. I did put on a compeed blister sticker for a little protection and then never rubbed again. I wear a 9.5 in tennis shoes and 10 in sandals. These fit perfectly in a size 9. Size down. Do not size up. You will not regret this buy. Some people complain about the weight. I mean they are boots. Of course they are heavier than a shoe. But I did not notice the Weight after about 10 minutes of wearing them. 😅
Love this boot. Beautiful, well balanced classic boot. They are a bit heavy but I got used to them quickly . The leather softened after 3 wears. Fits slightly large so I sized down to 7 instead of my usual 7.5 and I also wear thick sock or 2 pairs of socks. My favorite boots.
These boots are great, I was considering getting myself a pair of platform Doc Martens for a while, and I'm glad I finally splurged.Pros: The sole is super sturdy and thick but also flexible enough to be comfortable. The leather seems to be decent quality. After having them almost a year, they are due for a polish but that's the majority of the wear and tear they've sustained, they are still in almost new condition.Cons: The leather takes a while to break in, it is still pretty stiff and I still get a blister at the back of my heel if I walk in them a lot in one day. The laces that come with them are a tiny bit short, I can't lace them up all the way and still make a decent knot, but they are more comfortable to leave the top loop or two without laces anyway.Overall: definitely my favorite shoes. I'm glad I got the leather version, because these will obviously hold up well over time and look super cool the entire time. They run slightly big but I feel like that's better than being too small, at least I can still wear them, you just might want thick socks.
I love the way these look and have gotten a lot of compliments. They didn't take too long to break in and are very comfy despite being a heavy shoe. I've had them for about a month and they have held up well so far and seem very well made.
First pair of docs and these are amazing. I’ve always loved combat boots but hadn’t ordered any docs. These are top notch. They are comfortable and stylish! Fit is perfect!
I have been eyeing these boots for a long time so when they went on sale, I immediately had to buy them on Amazon. I love these boots. They are a little stiff at first, but need some breaking in. So far they look like they are good quality and I hope they do stay in good shape. Love the platform style. Gives me a few inches to my height!
Wait til they go on sale (which they have several times this year) and grab them! I love the extra height I get without wearing heels. The matte finish is 😍. They’re 🔥.
I don't generally expect much from shoes I buy on Amazon. In my experience, for the most part, they were of poor workmanship, falling apart quickly or what have you. These boots however are very well made. I wear them almost everyday and constantly get compliments on them. So happy with this purchase. Worth every penny.Update: It's been over a year, I still wear these boots pretty much everyday, and there are no signs of the sole coming off or rips or tears or anything. Even the laces have held up day after day of tying and retying. And I'm usually in a hurry so I tend to yank on those f***ers just because I'm under stress. The bottom of the soles have shown wear simply because I, well, wear them. But they are super thick soles, so it's not an issue yet. Also, the leather has stretched out a bit. They aren't as tight fitting as they were when I got them. If I were to purchase again, I might consider going down half a size. I normally wear a 9 1/2 or 10. I ordered a 10. But really, I am super happy with my Doc's. Thumbs up.
