Brand new boots, straight out of the box. Pulled out packing paper from inside the boots. Unzipped the sides. Slide my foot in. As I’m pulling laces back through and begin to pull tight, the metal (ish) cleat on the side completely broke away from the insert through the leather of the boot. I’m sure that a company like Merrill would have designed their boots better then to break in not even a full use, but unfortunately I can’t afford the return process due to needing to have work boots and will be stuck fixing this myself. Be warned before spending the amount of money these cost.
I love Merrell. Have several other pairs of shoes.This is not one of them. The lace eyelet at the top broke before I could even lace them up to try them on. It sucks because they were the perfect width and felt very comfortable.Do not give up on the brand, DO find another boot.
