I did not order these for hiking purposes, but rather for work for days I am running the floor. Was looking for something comfortable, offers support, breathable, and a good fit. These fit the bill on everything except the good fit.I ordered an 8.5, which is my usual size. Width-wise they fit fine - the length is a bit less so. They are long enough, but snug. If you have longer toes, like I do, your toes get a little scrunched together.I've never felt my feet were particularly narrow, but to tighten these, there is a lot of extra shoelace. These aren't shoelaces that you tie, they tighten up through a little plastic locking piece. If you pull too much to tighten the strings, you have the excess hanging down. Mine doesn't hang down enough to get in the way, but if I had to tighten them any more, I'd probably trip on the loose lace eventually.Outside of the fit issue I had, these are nice shoes. They have a good name behind them. I recommend them as long as you make sizing considerations.
I haven't owned a pair of Bass shoes in years, but this pair is going to bring me back to the brand. I've worn them every day since I got them, about a week ago, and half the time I forget I have them on. They're lightweight, roomy, and so comfortable. And, yes, they stay cool and they vent nicely. Again, half the time I forget I even have them on.I can't speak to how water resistant they are yet, but in terms of traction, they do great on our rocky shoreline, sandy beach, and gravel roads.
It's Bass and they are one of the best shoe brands. I used to drool over Bass ads in Seventeen magazine as a teen (70's) and had a few pairs. These dont seem quite like Bass quality to me. They ARE NICE, but there are some features that are not quality to me.The Good:1. Nice rubber treads. They are fairly thick & should hold up & grip well enough for light hiking & wear.2. Nice elastic ties. They have PLENTY of stretch and very easy to adjust. Plus you don't have to tie them!3. Mesh fabric is comfortable and nice looking.4. Feel good on. Fabric stretches a bit.Not so GOOD:1. NARROW in the toe. Why do manufacturers make narrow toes? After a LOT of adjusting the ties, they felt better on. I can usually easily wear wide sizes not because I need them but because they feel better. Everyone's feet swell during the day so extra room is nice. These will stretch more over time to conform to my foot.2. Removable foot bed/ pad....um take a look at my photo. Doesn't look too appealing to take it out. Kinda like wearing wooden shoes.Doesn't feel bad without it but looks like the mesh will quickly wear through. The foot pad had some padding but it's overall thin. Being that this shoe isn't roomy, adding another pad might be iffy.3. I had to pull the ties all the way to their ends to make this shoe fit me. It was a frustrating process.4. Colors are nice but my photos make them brighter than they actually are.5. Treads are light duty treads. And at the price point they're selling these for this shoe should be way better made. You'll be paying for the name mostly for a middle quality shoe.I've bought $40 shoes that are much better. It's sad to see Bass has this kind of quality with any of their shoes.I would actually rate this shoe 3.5 stars but since I can't do that I'll give Bass a 4.Recommend as an over priced tennis shoeDo NOT recommend as a hiking shoe other than walking on paved or maintained trails.
great shoescomfortableperfect fitdries quicklyi would recommend these
These are my first hiking shoes so I dont have a comparison point but I can say this:They run a little small, not just the width but the length as well, they feel like they hug your foot firmly, now the tightness is adjustable with the strap. I'm size 6.5 and usually order my sneakers 7 to be safe, these feel like 6.5 sneakers so I would recommend sizing up.The sole looks like it has a nice grip, we'll have to see on wet conditions. They are just not the cutest, but most hiking shoes aren't.
THIS IS THE SECOND PAIR OF THIS BRAND I'VE GOTTEN AND I STILL LOVE THEM. THE JURY IS STILL OUT ON HOW THEY DO ON WET SURFACES LIKE ROCKS AND SUPER MUDDY TRAIL SECTIONS, BUT 5 STARS ON ALL OTHER ASPECTS. SUPER, SUPER COMFORTABLE HIKING SHOES.
Travel a lot (Central/South America) and do a lot of hiking. I always size up one size bigger because I tend to wear very thick socks or two pairs for comfort while walking for hours. I'm glad I sized up because these shoes are a little more snug than normal. However, sized up they feel great. They also look nice. Good quality. I'm very pleased with them.
I like these. I would order 1/2 size up & not great if you have wide feet. These look nice & wear well.
