The Clarissa II Quad is the same classic gladiator Dr. Martens sandal they've always made — with three straps, an adjustable buckle at the ankle and all the Docs DNA — but now, it's got an empowering boost and an extra dose of attitude thanks to an extra-high platform sole.

Dr. Martens, also known as Doc Martens, Docs, or DMs, has stomped its way into history since 1901. Originally created by Dr. Klaus Maertens, a German soldier who designed a comfortable air-cushioned boot to aid his recovery from a broken foot, the footwear quickly gained popularity. In 1960, the brand we know today was born with the iconic 1460 boot, adopted by British working-class youth and later embraced by various subcultures for its durability and rebellious spirit.
Dr. Martens prioritizes both timeless design and rugged construction. Their shoes are instantly recognizable by their air-cushioned sole, yellow stitching, and utilitarian details. Made with high-quality leather, Dr. Martens boots and shoes are built to withstand years of wear and tear, making them a true investment piece.
I wear an 8 or 8.5 US in regular shoes and sandals; however, my DM Nartilla sandals are a UK5/US7 and they fit perfectly. So I ordered the Clarissas in a UK5 as well. The first thing I noticed was how stiff they were. Unyielding. When I squeezed my bare foot in, not only was it very painful, but I could not see any way that this sandal could ever come anywhere close to being big enough or comfortable. Very tight and very stiff. Did I need a larger size? The length was just right so a larger size would be too long. I have a fairly wide forefoot, but narrow heel and thin ankles. I could barely buckle the ankle straps, they were so stiff. I decided to wear them around the house for a couple of days with thick socks, just to see what happened. It was an ordeal to get them on with the socks and then it felt like they were cutting off circulation to my toes. But I persevered. End of story: after a few days of indoor, sock-wearing breaking in, the difference is amazing. I’m wearing them today without socks (still around the house because I don’t think they’re ready to wear to work or for a walk yet) and the forefoot and ankle straps have stretched and softened just as I hoped they would. They are the correct size for me; they just need considerable breaking in. I can now tell that the more I wear them, the softer they will become. What had previously seemed inconceivable is happening- they are morphing into very comfortable footwear. And they look good, too.
Surprisingly comfy. Get a size down. I’m normally a size 5.5-6 with most shoes. I usually get size 6s in Doc Martens. After reading reviews, I ordered a size 5 even though I was a little hesitant since I made the mistake of sizing down with the 1460s (reviews had also said to size down if you’re half sizes, but my toes hit the front with size 5 and hurt). These fit perfectly! The first band tight over the foot arch though and is a little difficult to put your foot in/out. So if you’re wide footed maybe just get your normal size, like a previous reviewer said. Hopefully it’ll loosen over time, I’m a kinda afraid I’ll tear it or something so be careful. FYI, I got them for $78 lol just in case you wanna know how low the price will go and wait till there’s a sale.
I have been eyeing these shoes for years now! Finally gave in and got them for my birthday. I had heard mixed reviews on these shoes so I was apprehensive. However, the shoes turned out amazing! They look like the same great durable quality like any other Docs. They are pretty heavy bIt that doesn’t bother me. I did read that the shoes run big. This made me nervous because I have small feet. I am truly a size 5. However I did order a size 5 and they fit perfect!
The adjustable ankle straps are too short. The leather was hard and cut into the top of your foot when you walk. I don't like any footwear that needs so much break in period. Returned.
These sandals are great. Exactly the style I was looking for. However, I want to give a warning to my fellow humans with wide feet. These shoes are not as wide as people make them seem. I consistently wear a 9.5 Wide in women's shoes. This means that when only whole sizes are available I have to size up or down, usually based on width. So, based on what people were saying, I decided to go with a 9. And I have to say...they are tight. Not so much that I don't think I can break them after a month of wear. I'm sure I can break them in after a while. And based on the the way the 9 looks, I know that a 10 would have been way too long on my foot, even if the width would have been better...So, use caution. If you have wide feet, and you are thinking about sizing down a whole size, I highly highly recommend trying them on in person if at all possible for you. However, if you have regular or narrow feet, then I'm sure sizing down by half a size or a whole size would probably be just fine, cause like I said, these shoes are long, so going with your true size might mean your shoe is too long.I don't know guys. They are tricky on sizing, be cautious.
this is my second pair I gave them out as a gift. My daughter-in-law absolutely loves them.
I was aware that they may run large but these shoes are much larger in size than a 10 - more like 10.5-11. They are both long and large in overall size. The shoe is also unexpectedly heavy. I would purchase again if a found them in size 9 and a color choice.
Love these sandals so much. Typically I’m a 9.5 in close toed shoes, and a 10 in sandals. I went with my gut and did one size down like I did with my previous doc marten boots I’ve purchased. I got the size 9 and they’re perfect. Like all docs, you have to break them in. I have a wide toe box. I used my shoe strech spray with my shoe stretcher where my toe box would lay and I was able to get them on easily with only a tiny bit of snug. Again, you have to break these in and I know they’ll stretch and fit even better after a few wears.
