I had to toss my LLBean snow boots I had for years because they have zero support and are difficult to walk in. So I went on a quest for new boots this year. Sorels are crazy narrow. The Columbia ones I tried I couldn’t get my foot into. I used to love Merrell but I couldn’t find anything that fit the criteria I was looking for this year. These Keens are the right height for keeping snow out without making it difficult to walk for a short person. They have a zipper closure, which yes is stiff and hard to pull down but I’m hoping it gets easier with use. They are true to size/width and have a ton of support. Great traction as well. Very comfortable and warm. Exactly what I was looking for.
These are the first winter boots I have ever had that keep my feet warm all day. I want a second pair for the wood shop and a good pair for dressing up
I love KEEN and have several other KEEN shoes. When I was looking for new winter boots, it was the first place I looked. The first thing I noticed was the zippers are extremely hard to unzip. I tried zipping and unzipping a few times to see if it got better. Maybe by a little, but not a lot. Someone who has hand dexterity issues would have big issues with these. Then when I tried them on, one boot was bigger than the other and slipped when I walked. I never have that issue with other shoes or boots. So back they go... so disappointed since I usually love KEEN.
Love my Bettys. They fit and feel like Keens with good arch support and plenty of room in the toebox and are relatively easy to get on and off. Definitely would be 5 stars except that the zippers are very tough to zip up or down. It's like they need some wax on them, but that doesn't make them easier to operate. I rate that as a minor inconvenience in an otherwise, warm, comfortable winter boot with good traction.
These boots have great traction, good size toe bed and are comfortable for an hour walk every day. Warm enough for -25 F? I doubt it. Warm enough for Iowa winters? Yes.I wear an 8, ordered a 9 and put my own insert on top of the boot insert to get the perfect fit.
Way to big!
Was super surprised by the other neg reviews here. I bought a pair of Keen Betty boots about 10 years ago and wore them for 6ish years. My feet were never wet or cold for those 6 years. I live in Minnesota where we have notoriously cold and long winters. I’m outdoors a lot. Right now, e.g. the air temp is -5 and the windchill -20 Fahrenheit. I was just out walking my dog. His feet were too cold and I had to carry him (poor baby! -we didn’t go far at all) but mine were fine.I finally had ditched my old Betty’s just looking for something new and more stylish. I went through Sorrel’s, Pendleton, Sperry’s and others. They all leaked! None were actually warm. So, I ignored the reviews here and bought a second pair last week. They’re as great as I remember. Easy on off, lightweight, polar rated warm, fantastic grip. Sure, they could be cuter (thinner in the ankle? Brighter colors?) but they WORK.
These are very comfortable. Great during snow storms and mud season. I walk my dogs 2-3 times a day and need comfort. Thank you keen! Thank you Amazon for the price!
