These turned out to be a disappointment. The shoe was not very comfortable the durability I expected for a hiking shoe was just not there. The fit was tight, and the overall quality didn't meet the standards I had in mind. Not true to size, either.
I'm always looking for comfortable outdoor type shoes for walking my dog, local trails, outdoor activities. These Bass pull on hiker type shoes have been great. For reference, I ordered the size 10 women's, which is my typical size. I do have a wide feet and these fit quite comfortably, which I am happily surprised with.Shoe is quite easy to get on and off and also adjust with the elastic lace tightener.Good traction and grip so far on rainy days. I have not been able to test these out yet in the snow.I would call these a medium weight shoe. I feel like they would get a little hot in the summer, but are great for fall and into the winter.I would rate these as water resistant, but not waterproof. I don't believe either is mentioned in the product listing.I feel like $63 is a reasonable price point for these hikers. They are not Merrills or any of the other well-known name brand hikers, but are good for non-technical trails and day to day use. I don't like the look of them quite as much as my more expensive brands. I feel like the price point matches the quality and look of these hikers (or better called "around town-ers".)
Compared to other hiking shoes which are bulky and heavy, this is pretty light-weighted! The bottom is with more weights, but the top fabric are thin and light, also with enough cushion and protection. Color is also nice and size is perfect !
They just ok. Not for me but the are light weight so that could be good for others.
These shoes are good quality and fairly comfortable. They are snug to pull on, but that I by design because they are hiking shoes. They are secure and don’t slip off/up or move on the foot when you walk - safe and stable for hiking. The elastic pull laces do have some adjustability, but because these are slip on/snug to the ankle the laces are mainly decorative. The bottoms are great - knobby and grippy for great traction - perfect for hiking.I ordered a size 8.5, my regular size, and they fit perfect and as expected. The only possible negative I have about these shoes is that the insoles provided are lacking any real support (but that seems to be the case with almost all shoes which is why I end up switching insoles).
I've tried other Bass Outdoor footwear and really loved the products, so I was excited to get these shoes to try. Unfortunately, these hiking shoes are unusable for anyone in my family. The issue is how small and tight the opening for your foot is. I tried these and realized very quickly there was no way I could get my foot into the shoe. I wasn't too upset---as luckily in our family, four of the five family members wear the same size shoe! So I gave these to my husband to try. He had the exact same issue---no matter how hard to tried to stretch the elastic type opening, no matter how much he loosened the laces, they would not go on his feet. We tried my daughter---same issue. Then my younger son. He's very slim, so we had hope they would work for him---but again, he just couldn't get them on, not even with extreme effort. He really liked the look of them, so he was upset. The shoes seem great in most ways except the issue with the foot opening. They are nice looking, seem well constructed, and the soles provide traction and protection. We finally wound up making cuts in the elastic around the foot opening. When doing that, we were all able to get the shoes on, although the cuts were a bit annoying and the fit wasn't as supportive feeling. I am using these for gardening, but I wouldn't use them for hiking or even much walking.Maybe we got a pair with some issues. But I'd buy these with caution.
Pros:-The treads are deep, they have great traction, no slipping, even on wet surfaces-I like the pull through laces-I don't mind the look of them (although the brown is more gray than the photos)- I am happy with the cushioning on the bottom- I don't feel like I'm walking on bare floorCons:-The opening for the foot is quite small. I am able to get them on ok, but my sister (same size feet) had a really hard time with it.-I wish there was better arch support, but I have almost come to expect this issue with any shoes that aren't orthopedic-The shoe comes up pretty high on the ankle, if I wear my lower ankle socks they are still higher and irritate my skinI was on the fence between 3 and 4 stars because they are perfectly adequate for me, but the fact that my sister could barely even get them on swayed me to 3. I would have a hard time enthusiastically recommending.
Nice shoes. Love how the laces are actually a pull-though with a mechanical cinch, versus having to tie them. This allows the shoes to be put on easily and without hassle. Plus the laces can stretch out in the eyes without worrying about keeping things even.Uppers are comfy, but a bit narrow (or do I have wider feet?). They are stretching out a bit, though, with wear. Treads are aggressive and deep and definitely bite into any non-paved surface. Good support and they are comfortable. Colour is good...the grey is neutral. Laser-cut vent holes over the toes keep this cooler than expected. Not a big fan of the company name on the heel. Are these, $90 shoes? Hard to tell...or, time will tell.
