My husband has only worn Altra’s since becoming a nurse and he loves them. He always buys 2 at a time so he can switch them every day. They are durable and very comfortable. The ones he loved were discontinued and these were the most similar to what he had. He ordered 2 different colors and both look very nice and he says they are even more comfy than the last ones.
I've been wearing versions of the Altra Superior for about ten years and they've been my go-to when I need replacements. With this latest version, they seem to have changed the lasts yet again. They're both slightly longer and slightly narrower than past versions and are approaching the fit of a normal shoe.
If you like Altras, these are tough and a bit roomier and more comfortable than previous iterations. If you haven't tried them, you may be amazed, especially if you have narrow ankles but wide forefeet, or in my case, Morton's neuromas.
Welp. I didn't want to believe it, but Altra ruined these. The toe box is much smaller than the Superior 5. I hope another company pops up to fill the hole and stop the bleeding.
very comfortable, but too narrow and even a tad longer than other Altra size 11s.Returning.
Great for daily gym and walking around.
I loved the old Altra Superior 2.5 and earlier. Every new version I keep trying them to see if Altra will go back to the original fully wide-bodied toe box. This time around, yet again, Altra has continued the narrow toe box. I've included a comparison photo of my old 2.5s and the Superior 6.0. I had to return the new shoes. Going to keep looking. In the meantime, Whitin makes really wide shoes, which I've recently discovered. Not great for big hikes but certainly good for basic walking around.
These feel much more durable than the older superiors! That said, the heel does slip a tiny bit, but maybe with more mileage they’ll form to my foot better? The tread and grip is amazing as always! My only complaint is that they’re just thin enough that when I wore them for a 20 mile training run my feet were really sore by the end. It could have been the rocks that I had to run on, but these could benefit from a tougher sole or rock plate around the mid foot.Overall a great shoe that I’ll be using often!
